Shops in LA an Sacramento that stock Invaders?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Shops in LA an Sacramento that stock Invaders?

Post by andrius »

I live in Europe and I'll be going on a trip to California in a week. Could you guys please recommend some guitar shops located in Los Angeles and Sacramento that are the most likely to have a bunch of G&L Invaders in stock? I won't have much free time therefore knowing specific places would help a lot. I need to check Invaders out and see if I like them. Maybe I'll end up buying one.

I know there is a list of dealers, and I'll go through it when I have time, but my (limited) experience with dealers of other companies tells me that some dealers on respective lists are there for reasons unknown and that some of them don't have things in stock while shops that are not in the dealers list have them in stock. Therefore I imagine there must be shops that are not on the dealers list that have G&L guitars in stock and maybe someone knows of them.

This store on the US dealers list: http://westwoodmusic.com/index.php/cata ... t/?q=G%26L
Only two G&Ls and not a mention of G&L under the brands represented by the store (bottom of the page). This is the reason I find going through dealers lists a waste of time. There's more G&Ls at Sam Ash which is not in the dealers list.

Do they sell Invaders in shops at all? I've looked at a bunch of online stores and those that sell G&Ls, don't have Invaders. How am I supposed to get one? I am not buying anything without first holding it in my hands.

If G&L doesn't want me to buy their guitar, fine, I'll just buy an ESP then.

I'm not sure how far the G&L Factory is from LA ??..... but you might schedule a Factory tour and try out a Invader there .... I have only been to one dealer in my State but he has never had a Invader in stock

G&L has not done public factory tours since the 2007 and 2008 Factory Open Houses. See G&L Factory Tour.

Thanks for the info, Craig. It seems like not many dealers are interested in pushing the Invaders.

I would say a couple things about Dealers and nothing against the Invader ..... for one G&L doesn't require Dealers to keep a certain amount of guitars in stock or inventory , for two is the ASAT Classic , Bluesboy , S 500 and Legacy are probably the biggest sellers and less risk for the Dealer , most dealers have a few , people come in try them out and then order a Custom build with the color and options they want and the guitars on the wall will eventually sell , I have yet to buy on new G&L that was in a inventory or on a wall , not that it couldn't happen , just nothing on the wall at my local dealer that ever made we want to take it home or can't live without

A quick search in our Knowledgebase, you will find this post: How long does it take G&L to make a guitar?.

However, you really need to contact a dealer and tell them the exact specifics of the instrument you are considering ordering.
They should be able to contact the factory and get fairly close estimate.

Hope this helps.

You might try The Guitar Store in Seattle, Washington. James always has a bunch of G&Ls, and I think he might have an Invader. Invaders are rare, though. Great guitars. Good guys.

I missed buying a hardtail a few years ago, and still regret not getting that one.

Here's one going to Neal's Music in Huntington Beach, CA. It was posted on G&L's facebook page earlier today:
Here's an Invader in Pearl White, matching reverse headstock, rosewood board, Dual Fulcrum vibrato.
Serial number CLF072394 is headed to Neal's Music in Huntington Beach, California.

OP: suggest you contact Neal's Music about this guitar and ask them if they have any other Invaders in stock. Though it looks like you might
be on your trip already.
