New Tribute Legacy owner

Post by mw13068 »

Hello all,

I've had a natural gloss / maple board G&L Tribute Legacy for about a week now -- I traded an Xbox for it, and never have I made a better trade!

I've been an "S-type" player since 1986 or so, although very few of my S-types have been Fender branded. My other two are Jay Tursers (surprisingly good quality for the price).

I play in a 4-piece band, doing old Rock n Roll, R&B, and Country music, and I took my G&L for a gig last night, and it was great! *I* made a few mistakes, but the G&L did not.

It has a dense swamp ash body, and combined with the chunky two-point tremolo and high-mass bridge block, this guitar sustains notes beautifully, and has a solid "punch" :fighting0030: . I noticed this particularly since I have a EHX B9 Organ Machine pedal that really shines when used with a guitar that sustains well naturally. The tuning stability is also better than all the other stock S-types I've owned.

So, here I am. :greet:

I've got a white pickguard on order that I plan to use in place of the red tortoise. And I'm carefully working on finishing the fret ends so they're a lot smoother. Those are the only 'mods' on the list at the moment.
