Dear Community
I am picking up my new(used ASAT dlx) in LA and then ship it in the case in the cargo bay(cold) from LA to Munich(11 h) to Vienna (1 h)
Shall I detune the guitar ?

I would detune it, probably even loosen the strings.
Because I know, detuning can not do any harm and on the other side I don't know, what happens, when the strings getting really cold.
On the other side, I got guitars sent to me per air mail, with full tension on the strings and nothing did happen. They probably do not let the temperatures get down to much anyway.

I usually detune guitars about a whole step when I ship.
I go an extra step and slip some paper between the strings and fretboard
so there is no rubbing during shipping.

The G&L repair shop (just sent an email) said no need to downtune but(as planned ) put cluth or paper between strings and fretboard

I've received 2 ASAT Classics from the USA in the post (I'm in Australia) and when they arrived they were still in tune!
