G&L LB100 Legacy Bass 1993

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

UMEL,

Most likely you have seen this link on the G&L website already. You can find the specs on the Specifications tab. Since this is a solid finish, the body wood will be alder. The pickguard is White Pearl. Fingerboard has 12" radius. The LB-100 was reintroduction in 2013. It is a continuation of the Legacy bass, renamed to LB-100, produced between 1993-2000.

If the neck has a 3-bolt neck plate, it would be one of the older models but given the chrome bridge I think it's a post 2013 model.

Hope this helps,

- Jos

Here's your photo inline:

You can get the specifications from the 1993-94 Catalog which we have in the Gallery:

The body color finish is Lake Placid Blue.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks, the serial number is B024540 which puts it at around 1993 from the registration page.

I think it's Lake Placid Blue then.

It's an older one, in Lake Placid Blue. The white pickup covers were common on Legacy Basses and LB-100s in the '90s, but I haven't seen them listed as a current option. Of course, that "B" serial number puts it no later than '97.

I'm not sure exactly when the change was made, but all of mine from '83-'86 have black crinkle bridges. My '91 ASAT Bass has a chrome bridge. All of the BBE-era basses I've seen or owned have had chrome hardware.

I hear you Ken. From Craig's info it l;ooks like many of the pre-2K LB-100 basses still had a chrome bridge. I would have loved to see a pic of the neck plate.

I will have more pictures later today.

Once I have the pictures would it be considered acceptable to ask an approximate market value.

See this post for a resource on getting values: Is there a good source for getting G&L instrument values?

If you are looking to sell, post your Ad(s) in the GbL Marketplace, not on the G&LDP or G&L Knowledgebase forums.

You'll probably get a few opinions here. I would also suggest searching the classifieds at TalkBass.com for completed sales of 1990s Legacies and LB-100s. I remember seeing a few posted there in the last year or two.

What a marvellous surprise when I opened the case,

Some real nice items in the case candy.

Please revisit the pictures to see the guitar in full glory.

Using the Blue Book valuation system (thanks for that link) I see this as being 99.9% MINT. Apart from a little surface contamination on the chrome which will clean off it has no scratches and comes with case and all the candy. I think there are even signs of plastic cellophane under the scratch plate screws and phono input nut. I would say that here in the UK it must be valued around the £800 mark maybe more as they are rare here.
