In another post my wife said just keep your Amp and just get another guitar
and thinking about it she is right. With one guitar being an Asat Classic
what would be a guitar that is different like a Asat Special, something
from Fender, or Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Parker, Vox there are a lot of
different ones so how do you choose one As far as the music goes
I'm getting into Surf Music Jan and Dean, Beach Boys, Rip Chords
the Malibooz, and Dick Dale. Does anyone here on this board play
any of those groups when playing out and what guitars and amps
do you use.

The best amp for that music, twinreverb, is the Fender Twin Reverb. Dick Dale just turns his right up and goes for it. If you really want to play surf music then get a Strat. Or a G&L Legacy. The vibrato comes in very handy for those surf sounds.

I'd say a Legacy of about the same age so you could pad your chances of
getting the same neck profile. Gotta have a trem for surfy stuff so that's my vote.

I'd say Legacy if you want the trem or possibly a lespaul?
then you will have the 2 guitar designs that started it all

For me, besides the classics, I use a VHT Standard head and 2x12 cab w/ Celestion G12H30's. Works for me...

Tim and all the others thanks for your reply now there some thing that
catch you off guard. Yesterday at 4pm I was call into HR with my boss
and I was told because of Company restructuring my job was eliminated.
I've been there for six years and at 57 I have to start all over again looking
for a job. Now on the subject of this post none of our local dealers carry
G&L the one I do know is in Kingston NY. There are a couple of guitars
that I do like one is a Parker Fly Artist and the other is a Steinberger GR4.
I would like to try other G&L guitars like the Legacy which would be a good
to go but it would have to be a used one from 2001 to match my Asat Classic.
Now without a job once again I have to put the guitar on hold till I find work.

Man, that is a bummer I wish you the best of luck job in your hunt for your next career move. Remember to take care of #1 (=you) first. The guitar can come later.
