I have a G&L ASAT Deluxe I need help nailing down the year built and so forth, I don't feel comfortable removing the neck etc and it was a used piece with no spec sheet etc. I know its a USA model but I have not seen another one like this with the maple fretboard and the mini toggle switch. I know the pickups are aftermarket (Lace Hemis) but the switch is now unhooked so it must have been a factory thing. Serial number is CLF 49183
Here are some photos if I can get this to work

You need the url to be to the jpg image file not to the html page.
Here they are:
The model name is ASAT Deluxe.
The stock pickups were: Neck - Seymour Duncan '59 (SH-1), Bridge - Seymour Duncan JB (TB-4)
The mini-toggle switch was for coil splitting the humbucker pickups.
The body is Mahogany with a Premium Flame Maple top and natural wood binding.
The body color finish is Cherryburst.
The neck and fretboard is Hard Rock Maple and it has the Gun-Oil Tint Glossy finish option.
I will see if I can get the build date from my contact at G&L.
Hope this helps and stay tuned for build date.

Re: Need help with a guitar ID
Based on other serial numbers in the registry, I would put the build date in 2007.

Re: Need help with a guitar ID
Got a reply from G&L apparently the guitar has had a neck swap at some point. Period correct but still, going to go talk to the GC that sold me the guitar about this fact. See what they will do as far as perhaps giving me a little cash back or something to offset a possible value hit. I like the guitar but that's a little worrysome to hear in a way. Its a USA neck/USA guitar but it does not match up, and I was never told that by the seller (im not sure they knew).

Re: Need help with a guitar ID
I just did a factory neck replacement on my 2000 Comanche .... it sure is better than having a bad neck : ) plus the neck is brand new so my 2000 Comanche is half brand new ...lol .... if it was some really limited special guitar it may or may not hurt value , but on the regular stuff it's fine

Re: Need help with a guitar ID
I discovered that the '91 ASAT Bass I bought several months ago had a Nov '92 neck. I learned from Darth that the neck was a warranty replacement, which happened just before the bass was sold to its original owner. Some design changes had been made between the time the bass was built and when the neck was replaced, but it's obvious that the factory used the earlier methods to make the neck an exact replacement. Even though I was specifically looking for production dates from before 3/21/91, I have been very happy with the bass and have no plans of trading it away.
