Hey, new to the board
Just registered today and thought I would say hi...
Been playing g&L since I bought my Legacy new in 1994. Just ordered another one and I believe it is on the way here. I saw it on the G&L Facebook page last week (legacy special in shoreline gold, light tint neck). I'm not much of a collector but I like to keep just 2-3 guitars to play and gig with...over the years I've discovered that G&L are by far the best guitars I have owned and played.
Anyway, looking forward to joining in on the discussions.

Welcome legacy_player,
Could be welcome / welcome since you have two legacy's
Post pics of both, because 1) we love to see G&L pics and 2) nothing exists without pictures. Stay around and jump in often.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the welcome. I posted a couple of pics in the G&L Porn section. Nice to meet you.

Hi Legacy
I too am from your hometown! In fact I believe we briefly meet at the shop a few weeks back and talked about how great that Shoreline Gold was gonna look
I haven't been very active on the board as of late, but still read all the time.... This is a super great group of guys, you will like this place.
Can't wait to see that thing in person!!!

Hey Scott...yeah I think you were there when I brought my legacy in for a fret job a while back. I can't wait to see that Legacy Special either. It's been a long couple of months haha!
I just saw the pic of your wall of g&l's you posted earlier...nice! Cool turquoise sparkle sc-2. I wasn't a fan of those finishes at first but they grow on you.

Can't wait for the A/B tone report of the Legacy vs Legacy Special.
I'm so happy with my 1999 legacy I was thinking about getting a second legacy and was wondering about the legacy special.

Re: Hey, new to the board
Yeah, there is a fair bit of difference between the Legacy and the Legacy Special. The Special has a much thicker sound and the bridge pickup is hotter. It's still possible to get close to the standard legacy tone as well if you play with the tone controls (turn the bass way down and treble up...maybe take off a little volume). if I had to pick one guitar to use on stage for everything, the special would definitely be it. It is one of the most, if not the most, versatile guitars I've ever played. You can get smooth, creamy humbucker sounds or classic single coil tone. It could back up either a Les Paul or a Legacy/Strat....although I use it as my number one.
I've been playing it through a vox valvetronix ac30vt modelling amp recently. I'm going to play it through my Fender 4x10 deville tube amp today to compare that way as well. I was in Montreal for a while for some family stuff so I haven't had access to that amp.
I'm also really impressed at the build quality of g&l guitars as well. This is my first new one since '94 and it seems their attention to detail just keeps getting better. It is pretty much flawless in every way. I wasn't exactly sure how the 1b neck would turn out but it is perfect. All in all, it's pretty much my favourite guitar that I've ever played or owned, and I've owned custom shop, vintage and other high end guitars. This one beats them all. I actually sold my '64 refin strat when I decided to order this guitar and I don't miss it at all.

Re: Hey, new to the board
I'll definitely have to check out a legacy special. You are the second person I've heard say it was incredibly versatile.
Thank you for the A/B report.
This used 1999 legacy is the best guitar I've owned to date. I got it at Guitar Center. I still can't believe it was traded in then passed over for some time before I saw and rescued it.

No problem! Yeah it's definitely worth having a look at. I know what you mean about them being amazing guitars. I just bought that new Legacy Special but there is a 200x Legacy at a pawn shop in Toronto for $450 right now. It's taking everything in me not to go get it...I don't need to spend more money on guitars. It looks like it's mint condition though. I'm need to stop looking for this stuff haha

Re: Hey, new to the board
I bought mine used for less than the cost of a new PRS SE.
It could have only been played a few hours max. It was mint condition
except the trem arm was missing which I have already replaced from
the G&L online store.
The guy must have kept it in the case in the closet or under the bed.
I've had many USA guitars over the years and none could have matched this beauty
(or I'd still have them).

A little late but welcome to the forum from another Canuck. I know what you mean about G&L quality; my 2004 is the best made guitar I've ever owned and I've owned other US made brands. They are an incredible value.

Thanks! Where in Ontario are you? There seem to be a few Canadians on the forum.
