I've got a custom made G&L asat z-3 guitar. but i can't find anything about my guitar..
Where can I find specifications of my guitar? I've got a serial number and some features like Z-coil pick-ups, sperzel trim locks
I would like to know my guitar a little bit better

I photo of the guitar and the serial number would go miles to helping you learn about it. Have any pics? Welcome to the club! ~JagInTheBag

Re: custom guitar
From your photo I can see these options:Epiguit wrote:
Serial number: CLF45421
Green Metal Flake finish
Matching headstock
GOT (Gun Oil Tint) Glossy finished neck
Single ply white pickguard
Standard features:
ASAT Z-3 model
Made in Fullertion, CA
Standard issue hardshell case
Hard Rock Maple neck with Maple fretboard (not the optional Birdseye Maple neck and fretboard)
Saddle-Lock bridge
What cannot be determined from your photo:
Type of tuners: non-locking or locking (need to see the back of the headstock).
Neck size-the standard neck would be the #2 (7.5" radius, 1 5/8" nut width) and #1, #1V, #3 and #4 necks were optional.
Body wood: the standard body would be Alder with this finish, but Swamp Ash is optional.
Solid body or Semi-Hollow (without F-hole). Lift control plate to see if there is a semi-hollow cavity underneath.
If it has the Pickup Expander push/pull Volume or Tone pot.
Here's some posts to review:
ASAT Z-3 Specification Page
List of Regular Production ASAT-style guitars (USA)
Serial number significance
What are the USA neck size options, past and present?
Which type of stock tuners, non-locking or locking?
what does 'GOT' maple neck mean?
What is the expander switch used on many of the models?
Hope this helps.

Re: custom guitar
hello,
thanks a lot for the information but i'm not happy yet
In the shop they said it was a birdseyemaple fretboard and it was made for exhibitions (just two of it he said)...
And it is imported by a music company in the netherlands.
But I would be glad to know of this true because I aint got any papers...
The only thing I also know is that it have sperzel tune locks and it have the expander push/pull volume pot.
But I have never seen this kind of tone and volume pot (see image)
And where can I find what the value is of my guitar.

I'd like to help you but you need to post a clearer closer photo of the fretboard and one of the BACK of the headstock toEpiguit wrote:hello,

determine whether or not it has a Birdseye Maple neck/fretboard and Sperzel Locking Tuners.
The knobs on the volume and tone pots looks stock, but the pickup black switch tip does not look like the standard tip used by the factory.
The fact that the Volume pot is the push/pull would indicate the build year is after 2002. Have you check the build dates on the neck heel and/or
neck pocket? Also, look into the bathtub route on the body and post photos of any marking in this route.
See this post regarding pricing: Is there a good source for getting G&L instrument values?.
And, if you are looking to sell this guitar, post your Ad in our Marketplace, not in this forum. (see Welcome! Read This First)
Again, hope this helps.

Re: custom guitar
thanks a lot!
Here are some other pics, hope this in enough information.
For checking the date, do I have to unscrew my neck? Cause I'm a little scared its not balanced anymore after it.

Yes, these photos are helpful.Epiguit wrote:thanks a lot!

The neck is a Birdseye Maple neck. The tuners are locking but are Schaller not Sprezel.
The pickguard is a 3-ply Mint guard. The LN #3 may indicate that it is a #3 neck. Measure the nut width and if it
is 1 3/4" wide, then it is a #3 neck. If it measures 1 11/16" wide then it is a #4 neck, based upon it being a 2007 or 2008 build year instrument.
The 12/21 in pencil likely indicates a December 21 date. Body wood looks to be Alder.
I have emailed Dave McLaren to see if he can look up this guitar in the factory records and send me the specifications.
So, hold off removing the neck. I'm guessing that the build year is 2007 or 2008 and it could have been
built for the 2008 Winter NAMM show and/or the show in Germany later that year.
The pickup selector switch looks like it has been replace with some aftermarket switch.
Hopefully, Dave with see my email and get back to me.
Stay tuned.

Re: custom guitar
Here's the details from Dave:
Hope this helps.Hi Craig,
CLF4521 is an ASAT Z-3 Semi-Hollow, f-hole deleted, Green Metal Flake finish, swamp ash body, mint pickguard, bird’s eye maple neck, vintage tint gloss neck finish, matching Green Metal Flake headstock.
It was shipped to JIC Music in the Netherlands on March 29, 2007. There was only one guitar of this kind on the order from JIC Music, and I could not find another like it so I think we shipped only one guitar of this description to JIC Music. It is important to note that any dealer or distributor could have ordered exactly this combination, but based on my experience, the chances of that are almost zero.
Thanks a lot, Craig.
Dave
