Hello guys,
I just bought a "new" S-500. The store owner bought a few G&L's at the ex dutch G&L distributor's sale. They didn't have the certificate, case candy etc in the case. The S-500 looks new. I tried to find the dates...... oct 13 2008 in the body...but no date on the neck. The neck hasn't been sanded for perfect fitting, but it has an extremely thick coat of lacquer??? Is this common. Here are some pics to determine if something's wrong.
Hope you can help me.... Thanks,
Theo

Re: Where is the date on my s-500 neck?
I have similar thing with my Blues boy. The body says it was made 2/2010, but the neck has only initals, no date or barcode sticker. It looks as if the neck WAS sanded during assembly. I guess they don't put the info back on the neck if this happens. This is what Criag told me when I asked about it.
Kind of strange though.
It DOES look as if the neck was sanded on your guitar as well during final assembly. Most likely why no date.

I checked with the factory about neck date stamps and found out that they stopped stamping the date on the necks at least 5 years ago.
The bodies are still stamped and that happens as soon as they come off the HAAS CNC router.
Hope this helps.

Fine, that will perfectly explain, why the neck of my Bluesboy has also no date on it:Craig wrote:I checked with the factory about neck date stamps and found out that they stopped stamping the date on the necks at least 5 years ago.
Body says, it has been built on June 10 2006.
