Medium Jumbo Frets - Size dimensions?

Post by psychocandy »

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the Medium Jumbo frets that are on the (Tribute) Fallout? I'm ordering a neck from Musikraft and I want to have the same size frets, but I've seen some contradicting information online, specifically between the Warmoth and Musikraft websites about fret size, so I'm a little confused.

Musikraft has 6105 frets listed as 'Medium', but I had a guitar that had 6105 frets on it that were more tall and narrow. What's more confusing is that Warmoth has 6105s listed as 'narrow and tall' also, so I'm not sure which website to believe. Is it possible that they use different brands of fret wire or could there be another explanation? Any help would be appreciated.

The US model standard fret wire is listed as Medium Jumbo and is equivalent to Dunlop 6100 wire. The Tribute models fret wire is also Medium Jumbo eqivalent, however, I don't
know the exact specs. (reference posts in G&L Knowledgebase: G&L Frets? and Fret size on Tribute Legacy).

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Craig! I appreciate the help. Interestingly enough, Musikraft and Warmoth both list 6100 frets as 'Jumbo' and 'very large' respectively. Now I'm even more confused. :confused0007:

I should probably just email Musikraft about it. I just wish fret sizes were universal.

Anyway, thanks again for the help!
