Converting a Legacy to a Comanche

Post by logical_proof »

So I noticed on the online store that they are selling the Zinc plated Z-coil pickups sets for $100 dollars and a Comanche mirror pickguard for $20. I figured I could buy all of the electronics and pre-wire the pickguard and pretty much drop it in place of my legacy pickguard. I have never done that before but I was wondering if there were any Gotchas I would need to look out for? I have a tribute Will Ray and I love how quiet the pickups are.

This should be doable without any issues. Check out the from our Gallery:Album: Comanche Wiring Diagram and Picture Diagram.
Perhaps you could post photos and details of this project in The Project Page sub-forum.

If you like your WR as much as I do mine, you might want to consider fitting a WR bridge pickup in your Comanche conversion; you'll very likely prefer it. They're not that expensive right now.

Thanks Craig for the links, and Nick that is a great idea, I had noticed they were of sale. The Will Ray is what got me into electric Guitar last year :)
