Satin Frost

I’m interested in the Lake Placid Blue color but am not taken on the “metallic” part. I’d like a more “flat” looking Lake Placid Blue, like the look of a flat Fullerton Red or Himalayan Blue. Would Satin Frost tone down the metal shimmering look of the color?

Does Satin Frost hold up over time? Does any have it on their guitars?

It should hold up the same as Gloss finish, as they are both polyurethane finishes.

Check out the G&L Facebook page for examples of some of the finishes with and without Satin Frost, though I don't remember seeing any photos of LPB with Satin Frost.

I have a satin frost Fullerton Red LB100, and I don't think its as thick a finish as the regular gloss ones and it feels a lot nicer too. It seems to scratch a bit easier, but is still tough. I wish it was on all my guitars.
IMO if you don't like the metallic finishes then don't get one at all - go for Sonic or Himalayan blue.

I don't know the Satin finishes, but I do have a LPB Legacy/maple/MOTS guard, and white plastic parts; and it IS a fantastic looking guitar.

Yeah, I'm not big on metallic finishes. They can be cool looking but for me ordering one, not so much. I don't know if this Lake Placid Blue Satin Frost idea will really work. But perhaps on a different color... Himalayan....?

I have as SC-2 in Bel Air Green, While I cannot comment on it dulling down the shimmer of the metallic, I will say I absolutely love the satin top coat as a finish. In what i have seen it stays cleaner looking than the gloss smudges do not show. If you are one that rests your arm on the guitar when you play it doesn't stick to you when you get a little sweaty. If i were to order another new G&L I think i would go with the satin frost finish again, quite probably the Graphite metallic under that top coat similar to the example above, I am sure the finish would be rather striking in person especially on a Fallout with a matching headstock.
