SS Hugger Orange Fallout
got it today and pleasantly surprised !! , first off Centerville Music already had the locking tuners on it !! .... Tim installed strap locks while I waited and peeled the plastic protector film off after removing all the knobs and screws !! .... the headstock is not finished to side to side leaving about a 1/16th of wood around the perimeter to make it look like wood binding , totally sweet !! .... the thing is real light ( a big plus since this is gong to be my main gigging guitar) and I like the color , we'll see how it shows up in the "inside" pictures .... well it looks like the first picture in real life , the following pictures are more orangy than in person , I will have to get some outside pictures this weekend .... I just know my band mates are going to love the sound

Apparently not Orange enough for the Dutch to reach the World Cup finals today. But alas …
Great looking guitar, Eric! Hope to see more pics!

Re: SS Hugger Orange Fallout
the 1 ply is standard .... there isn't any options to order on the SS series , G&L shipped the locking tuners 1 day after the guitar and the my dealer installed them before I picked it up ...... I'm really lovin the headstock !! , it looks like natural wood binding from the frontal view and no Fallout decal anywhere

Re: SS Hugger Orange Fallout
Just gorgeous! So glad it worked out. I do like the "natural binding" around the headstock. Makes me want a Fallout for the wall!

Re: SS Hugger Orange Fallout
It was a wise choice on G&L's part.
I think the concept works well with the muscle car theme and the specific colors available.
Now if G&L could be consistent or even offer this beveled edge accident(?) as a deliberate option on their painted headstocks it would be quite nice matched with natural body binding.

Re: SS Hugger Orange Fallout
this thing showed up with in 5 days of ordering it (including the weekend) , I have never had a new G&L ship this quick , when Tim called G&L they had one on the shelve so he ordered it knowing I was going to take it (lol) , 5 days later it's now in my hand .... july 23 is going to be my first gig ever so I have a couple more weeks to bond with the Fallout before gigs , half of our set is drop D tuning and the saddleloc will be a cake walk compared to my DF guitars on the re-tune

Hey Fumble that grabber orange with matching headstock looks sweet. Would look even better in the seat of a 70's Orange Challenger!

"I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the guitar. Na-na-na-na. Na-na-na-na."Fumble fingers wrote: this will be my first gig ever , I hope I don't get nervous and mess everybody up
If that doesn't work, just turn down enough so you are just lower than the band for a song or two and get your groove back. Positive energy.

I agree, the stripes would be a neat option.

Re: SS Hugger Orange Fallout
my second car and my first brand new vehicle, was a 1975 Chevy Nova. It cost $2,995 and I wasn't sure how I was going to afford it. Took a loan from my dad to do it.
It was a base model, bench seat, 6 cylinder 250 engine, straight block, but it was fun, put mag wheels and tires on it, hood scoop, ha ha.
BUT, there was a guy in my high school that had an SS, exactly like the one in the picture above. He was a rich kid, dad a judge...Car was fantastic, leather buckets, stick shift, it was the bomb and the envy of the school.
Except for the richer kids who got bmws for their 16th birthday, ugh.......try to compete, ha....life isn't fair sometimes....
Would love to have one of those right now, but I bet I still couldn't afford it, 40 years later.

That is an awesome looking Fallout! I like the stripe idea but it's really cool as is.
Fumble you'll do great at the gig. I agree with fianoman's two points of advice. +1. Don't think and just be.

Re: SS Hugger Orange Fallout
Well I made it through my first gig , first song was a little rough in a few spots , second song was rough in one spot and then I nailed the rest of the songs , we were playing at a biker bar that usually gets close to about 500 to 700 people in attendance on a normal wednesday but with the look of rain in the sky we had maybe a 150 people show up , it never did rain and the other two bands decided not to play (we were the first band to play) so our band played the whole session just under 3 hours ..... We were supposed to play one hour and I was originally only to play the first half of our set and sit out on the Drop D songs because I don't know a few of them all the way through but they let me play the whole set and I did real good on them , we had people yee hawing and ya hooing , bunch of people (lots of girls) dancing ..... about half way through the set I got real comfortable and the nervousness was totally gone ... what a thrill !! ... I should have done this 30 years ago !! .... I'm really hooked now , it was a great feeling having my band mates congratulate me on my playing and the people in the audience enjoying them selves ..... our band was on a " trial run " at the Bar and they said if we did good they would have us back ... by the looks of it I think we will be back
BTW .... the Fallout was great !! ..... light and easy to play !! .... love the saddle lock and it was easy for me to dial the tone in that I needed ..... even got a few compliments on the color too !!
