Best G&L dealer

Post by sacklg »

What dealers have the quickest turnaround on placing your order and is great to work with, I want to order a lefty alnico s classic. All the dealers in my state don't even have one in stock that's why I need to order from a dealer who orders guitars almost dail. Thanks

I ordered from Adirondack guitars in Hudson, NY. They have lots of guitars, including lefties.

I dealt with Dennis, the owner.

If the dealer doesn't have it, you are looking at a 3 month lead-time from the factory.

Many here have gotten their orders quicker than that. Mine took six weeks, some here have been even quicker. However it could take 3 months or longer, so be prepared.
I don't see how your wait time for a special order is affected in any way by which dealer you choose -- as long as they place your order, the wait time is dependent on the factory.

Every U.S. G&L -- even the dealer stock is ordered to spec now -- there is no factory inventory for dealers to choose from.

Every dealer handles the ordering process differently also. My dealer did not require a deposit, and I was under no obligation to purchase it after I saw it in person. I think this is unusual though.

Whow that's a good dealer if no deposit and not under obligations to buy after seeing, I take it you're in Canada?

maybe the exception to the rule ... but on the new SS Muscle car Series the factory does have some " on the shelf " stock that is ready to ship ..... when I asked my local dealer about the SS Hugger Orange Fallout my dealer said he would check into it , when he did G&L had one remaining hugger orange Fallout left on the shelf so he went ahead and ordered it ...... I had it in my hands in 5 days !! ..... my custom order (CO) guitars have all varied , my first CO took about 10 weeks , my second CO took about 6 weeks ...... the 10 weeks for my first felt like 10 months , so I bought a used ASAT Classic to hold me over :) ........ as quick and easy as the SS Fallout came in I might have to consider in the near future a SS series ASAT Special since I don't like the low/wide frets on my Broadcaster

Yes I now reside north of the 49th parallel. I think the conditions of my order were unusual. As a G&L dealer, I believe the store was required to maintain a certain amount of stock. I have a feeling that the owner thought my special order would have been a good choice to hang on the wall if I chose not to buy it. Every other dealer I contacted prior to ordering required a deposit of some sort. Fortunately the dealer that I eventually ordered through was also one of the closest.

Fumble is probably correct in that certain special series get mass produced to some degree without having prior orders, but for the most part every guitar is ordered to spec. As you are searching for a lefty, you are even at a greater disadvantage if you are hoping to find something in stock that matches your criteria.
