It's been a while. I loved the sound of my 2006 Tribute ASAT Special Semi-Hollow, but l couldn't stand the neck - it was so thin! So, it went bye-bye. Still, I think G&L ASATs are well made guitars, and that they sound killer when loaded with MFD pickups. My ASAT GAS has kicked in again. BUT, this time, if it doesn't have a beefy neck, it's a no go for me. Are there any ASAT models (past or present, USA or Tribute, Special; Bluesboy; or Classic, solid or semi-hollow), that have beefy necks, and preferrably, MFD pickups (at least for the bridge pickup)? Prove me wrong, by showing me that not all ASATs have thin necks (which the last two ASATs I owned, had). Thanks for any info you can provide.
I have big hands and I don't like thin necks either. I sold a Sheriton II because the neck was too thin for me.
I have two ASATs, custom built. I ordered both with #3 neck (1 11/16" nut) and I consider these necks "Chunky". They work well for me and I even consider G&L's #4 option.

Sounds cool, but a custom option ASAT is a bit out of my budget. As it is, a nice, wide neck is fine, but my big thing is a chunker cross section neck. Wide width necks are great, but then again the Ibanez, Wizard profile neck is wide, but thin in cross section. Thin cross section (front to back) necks are uncomfortable for me, due to the fact that since I play with my thumb on the back of the neck, it feels like my thumb and fingers are trying to act like a C-clamp on the neck. As a result, my hand and thumb can get sore. Also, my hand and finger movement on the neck ends up being kind of stiff, since I feel like I'm fighting the neck.
I know where you're coming from. I'm interested in an Eastman right now and I trying to find out if that cross section is too thin for me. Thin is not good for me either.
My ASAT necks are thick front to back. I could say "meaty". They fit and fill my hand well. The #3 for me has been perfect.
