I have a new custom built ASAT Classic Alnico. It landed at my house on Friday evening. It’s vintage white, 3ply blk pickguard, quarter sawn rosewood fretboard, and arm and belly contours. I love it. It’s really beautiful and plays wonderfully. It’s smooth. It’s a lefty so it’s got that lefty awkward look I love. I took it to band practice last night and plugged into my Vox. It cut through with great clarity and bite. It's just great.
I’d post some pics but I think I have to host them somewhere to link them to this site. I don’t know where or how. Plus a pic won’t do the color justice. It’s white/yellow/banana depending on the light (and my mood).
Anyway, I like this so much I want another now. I already have a ASAT Classic, which rocks in its own right. I think the two could support each other nicely in a gig, if I break a string or something. Although different sounding, they’re close enough for what I’m doing.
What next? I’m thinking ASAT Alnico “S” or a Bluesboy P90. I want to hear more of the later somewhere, somehow. The Alnico “S” is impressive but, and this might sound silly, I don’t know if I really want need the extra pickup. I like simple and can see myself getting confused! Am I nuts?
Any recommendations between these two?

A free and easy photo hosting site that many here use is Photobucket.I’d post some pics but I think I have to host them somewhere to link them to this site. I don’t know where or how. Plus a pic won’t do the color justice. It’s white/yellow/banana depending on the light (and my mood).
No you are not nuts. I like simple. I've only had a Strat type guitar once for a short while and could never bond with it...hardly ever used the in-between positions and hardly ever got out of either the middle or neck pickups. Even the 2HB guitar in my avatar only has a single volume and single tone control. 3 pickups and 3 knobs are too much for me. Even with amps, I opt for simple single channel with minimal controls. The Alnico “S” is impressive but, and this might sound silly, I don’t know if I really want need the extra pickup. Look in the Announcements section for the Tutorial on posting photos.lefty_major wrote:I’d post some pics but I think I have to host them somewhere to link them to this site. And don't forget to add it to our G&L Registry.

Re: My second ASAT arrived.
I took a few pics and hope to get them posted.
After a few weeks of playing between the ASAT Classic and the ASTA Alnico I’m starting to notice the sound differences more and more. The Classic seems to have more “Grrrr” in it (a clean “Grrrr”) while the Alnico has more of a sting, or bite. A touch lighter or higher to my ear. I've spent little time behind a Fender Telecaster so I can't compare or say which is closer in sound. I don't really care, either. I like both of these ASATs alot. In my band I think the Classic fits what were doing over the Alnico but those are my thoughts right now. The Classic "seems" to have a bit more bottom, and like a I said Grrrr. My ears might be different next week.
I’m leaning toward the Bluesboy P90 for my next one. It’d be that or get another Classic.
