Come on folks, is everyone on a diet? No lunch reports in quite a while. Whats up?

Let me tell you about the guitar that I am playing at the moment. It is a 2001 G&L Legacy. Damn is this a nice guitar. It just wants to be turned up louder a louder. I really like that.

It was custom made for me with a #3 3D birdseye neck and a saddle lock bridge. John McLaren and Tim Page really went all out on this and I am thankful. This is my only custom ordered G&L and was worth all the time and worry. The worry was wondering how I was going to pay for it. G&L makes a nice guitar.

I just thought I would check in see if there is anyone who still eats lunch around here. Now I have to call a neighborhood music store that has a Mesa Boogie Studio 22+ in their window. How much is that Mesa in the window...

I have been playing my Heritage double buckers a lot also. I have never had a Les Paul.

Good to see you checking Y2kc. Yes, this has been a ghost town and if I had the answers as to why, it would be easy to change. Maybe people are busy as I know some are. Others just appeared to have lost interest. I always enjoyed the lunch reports but I know that many are busy just trying to survive. It is still a good tech forum and for new members, also to post G&L porn. I am fortunate to have the best job of being retired, however being younger wouldn't hurt.

I have been immersed in a recording project since October. We are not able to get together very often and it has been time consuming. It has also been stressful for the band as not everyone shares the same goals for this project. It will go in for reproduction within a couple of weeks. This is, I believe, my 5 th recording project and it is certainly not my source of income and not my goal for it to be a source of income. It is a luxury to have you own equipment to do what you want. We have the best vocalists we have ever had and I thought this one would be a breeze. Boy was I in for a surprise! I had thought about doing LR'S for a week and share some of the experience and post the songs. I not sure there is interest for that and I may just post the CD in the Gallery and let those who want to, listen to it.

I am pretty well set on guitars and continue to gig as a bass player. My most recent G&L is an M-2500 and out of the 17 G&Ls I own, this has become my favorite for gigging. It is the only Tribute that I own. I have 3 other bass guitars including an American Asat but this is the one I use. -- Darwin

It must be fun playing that bass. Nice color choice.
By the way, I called the music store and the man who answered the phone had no clue what a Mesa Boogie was.I will call tomorrow and talk to the owner. I purchased a dead mint 64 SG jr from this store in 1983 for 300.00. Still have it. I love stores like this.

I've just been doing quick checks of the board lately, and not necessarily reading every thread. I think not having the Lunch Reporter tradition any more is part of that.

The only six-string I've played in the last two months has been my '96-ish ASAT Classic Custom. It has bumped the others down a notch since it arrived. I rotate through basses constantly. The go-to at the moment is a 2001 PRS Electic Bass, with a cherry sunburst finish, ten-top, and rosewood board with bird inlays. The previous two in the rotation were a '99 L-1500 and an '86 SB-1. Here are some pics to prove they all exist:

I'm starting to get curious about Mesa amps. I've never played one, but since I've been so head-over-heels for the ASAT Classic Custom I've been wondering how much better it might sound through something other than my Blues Junior. Any opinions on good Mesa models to try would be appreciated!

I've lost a bit of interest recently, not just in this forum but in others too. However, I'm off from work at the moment - I went into hospital to have my wisdom teeth removed and yes, it hurts - and have been checking in more often. As a result of the operation, my lunch today will be something soft and squishy. For the 4th day in a row. I can't even begin to express how much I'd like to eat a huge schnitzel with crinkle-cut fries and mushroom sauce, and an Italian sausage pizza right now.

On paper I shouldn't like the Tele at all - vintage frets, 7.25" radius fretboard - but it is one of the nicest guitars I own in look, feel and sound. You're right, it is slim pickings as far as the LR is concerned. This is the guitar I play today (as well as last weekend):

Nice guitar: light, beautiful finish, the Okoumé as well as the Korina top look fantastic, perfect quester-sawn neck, slick and fast Pau Ferro board. I had to get used a bit to the combination of the ASAT MFD bridge pup and the G&L P-90 bridge pup but after a couple of minor tweaks, many involving the tone and volume on the guitar itself mind you, it is a wonderful sounding axe.

The Express 5:25+ would not break the band as has many of the typical Mesa features, including the 5-band graphic equalizer on this model. My 5:25 is the prior version which has a rotary control mimicking the working of that feature but it is not eaxtly the same. And I love the 5W Class A setting on this thing; hardly ever play with it off. Adds grit already at low volumes and your ears will love it fro more than one reason

This newer model even has separate switches for each channel on the the front (instead of the single switch on the back on the older model).

Yep, it has been a ghost town around here lately. It seems to happen every year when the northern hemisphere weather improves and folks find better stuff to do outside.

I've been spending my time trying to be a better a player rather than lusting after gear, so haven't been around as much as usual. I've also been getting my fix of G&L's via Facebook. This is the combo I've been playing daily for the last month or so. This S-500 is particularly mellow, and complements the brightness of the Vox perfectly.

I've also been trying to teach myself bass on an old 80's MIJ Fender Precision but, being a guitarist, I think I'd do better on a slimmer neck. I tried Jamie's LB-100 a while back and that neck profile was perfect IMO. Do any of you lowenders know if there's a Tribute model bass with the same neck profile? I could see one in my future, especially since Darwin has such a high opinion of his Tribute bass.

I have been at a convention since Saturday so my time time has been packed, headed home tomorrow. Philby may be on the right track about weather change affecting posting.

Right now I am and will be playing my latest acquisition, the Will Ray sig posted last week. This thing is sweet.

If you get the Mesa Boogie Studio 22+ give many details. Being a Boogie fan I have been looking at those off and on for a long time let us know if you get it.

That neck is a #8, the Jazz-type neck. I find that a Fender Jazz neck feels virtually the same, with the exception of having a more rounded fingerboard.

Over the winter I bought this, so I've been playing it a bit,

I have restarted taking lessons and when I go I take this, its light weight, is my first G&L (2008) and is again becoming my favourite, so easy to play, lots of fun. Learning Europa by Carlos Santana.

Long story, but still..........waiting for this.

Whoa, isn't that a Whipple Creek guitar? Terry Whipple's received a lot of love on the Collings forum the past few years. I'd love to play one of his guitars. How do you like it?

thanks, the Whipple creek is awesome.

I'm the third owner and it is in terrific shape, so loud, great sound. All I did with it is lower the action a bit as it was high.

Amazing guitar, easy to play. I have tried a number of lefty acoustics and I thought my favourite was the bourgeois but this one is my favourite now.

I also have a Breedlove and love it too.

Cant go wrong with any of them. I thought I wanted a martin D28 but with these two, no need.

While I was patiently waiting for G&L to build the LE-2 last year, I decided to create & order a Carvin Custom California Carved top CT6. Turns out, it is one of the finest guitars I own.

Quilted Maple top in Deep Orangeburst w/natural binding, Honduran mahogany body

5 piece mahogany neck w/Maple stripes, 19:1 locking tuners, 1 11/16" Graph tech nut, Ebony fretboard with Abalone diamond inlays, medium jumbo Stainless steel frets, 12" radius, 25" scale.

I've had her almost a year - It still gets the most attention.

It's a PITA to haul an amp across country on a plane so I bought one of these for when we are out in California for gigs:

I've already used it for 2 gigs and some recording, and... What a GREAT sounding little amp!

It's a Fender Humboldt Hot Rod v2 (aka, Blues Jr III with a special designed Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker). Highly recommended!

It'll stay at my friend's house in CA, but I'm really going to miss it when I'm home.

Like Lyle and Delbert sing, I've got "too much stuff" that requires maintenance. Motorcycles, boats, homes, etc. Hope to start liquidating a few things this year but that requires time too!! And work has been super busy...

Well Gee Dub, what is so special about that Hot Rod? Why do you love it so much? The specs sound pretty cool. Is it typical Fender sound or do those EL84s give it a Voxy chime. Sparkly cleans? Thick and crunchy? Tell us more!

What is your favorite guitar to play through it? Pretty nice price point.

I was going to recommend the Express 5:50+. Both are great amps. The 5:50+ has 6L6 power tubes, the 5:25+ has EL84.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to start watching the used stock coming into my local shop. The owner suggested keeping an eye out for a Fender Vibrolux, which has me thinking about the '69 Super Reveb that's been gathering dust in my basement until I get around to installing new caps and tubes.
