Was the F100 series II ever made with rear mounted controls?
Every picture I've seen shows top mounted controls. I'm trying to hook up with someone selling an old one (year unknown at this point) with rear mounted controls.
At this point I don't know if its authentic/rare/modified/F100 neck on a different body/ etc, etc.
thanks,
Jeff

I believe they went rear-mounted in the mid 1980s, but I'm not 100% positive.

Re: F100 rear mounted controls?
I just checked the Gallery, and saw the model was still listed as of the 1985 price list. I'm not sure how long after that they were available. Do you know the year or the serial number of the one you're looking at?

I am not aware of this. Ken, perhaps you are thinking of the G-200 which had both the cloud plate and rear-loaded versions.KenC wrote:I believe they went rear-mounted in the mid 1980s, but I'm not 100% positive.

I also checked Greg's website and he makes no mention of a rear-loaded F-100.
Jeff, I sure would like to see photos of this F-100. I went through the list of the registered F-100's and none of them mention rear-loaded controls.repoman wrote:Was the F100 series II ever made with rear mounted controls?

The only rear loaded F-100's are the 2007 Custom Creations F-100 Return Edition and the 2009-present production F-100 models.

That thought crossed my mind, but the idea that a G-200 could be escaping me is just too much to bear!!!Craig wrote:Ken, perhaps you are thinking of the G-200 which had both the cloud plate and rear-loaded versions.
My personal experience with F-100s has been with very early (as in skunk-stripe early) ones. I could have sworn I've seen later ones with rear-mounted controls though.Craig wrote:I also checked Greg's website and he makes no mention of a rear-loaded F-100.

Re: F100 rear mounted controls?
I have a rear mounted F-100 prototype with PTB wiring similar to the Legacy except for the coil tap on the volume control.

See: Tutorial: Posting photos.
Looking forward to seeing it.

I missed the Series II model earlier in the post. This is a 2007 so it does not qualify. Having a terrible time posting off of a Pic as a mobile app.

Almost...Let's see if this works:
Nice looking G&L nut brown ale . Far from a Leo era F-100 though
So, no evidence of any 1980-1991 RL F-100's...yet

Re: F100 rear mounted controls?
I see a G&L neck that has been paired with a non G&L body .
Looks like a FMIC tremelo with ?? pickups (not G&L).
If your thinking of buying it , I would only pay for what it is worth in parts .
Thx for the pix Sam

You beat me to it! Thanks for posting the pics Sam.
Thanks for the info Elwood. I kinda suspected the body wasn't original. The seller still hasn't responded to my requests for additional pictures or my request to meet.
Oh well. The hunt continues.

Re: F100 rear mounted controls?
Mine was just in the Marketplace, but I ended up trading it at a local shop about two weeks ago. It should be out of Maryland's 30-day hold period in a week or two. It's very early (Sept/Oct 1980) and 100% original. I can put you in touch with the shop if you're interested (Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with that guitar anymore, but I would love to see it end up with somebody who appreciates Leo-era instruments!).repoman wrote:Oh well.
