Any info on a asat classic with factory b bender??
I'm trying to get some information on a G&L tele ASAT classic with factory installed b bender. The serial number looks to be G099621 from the picture. It's hard to tell because it has the 3 bolt black textured neck plate, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I'm wanting to know if this is something common and also what this guitar is valued at in today's market. It looks to be in absolutely excellent condition. Comes with the hard shell case but no certificate of authenticity. The guy is wanting to trade for my mint USA fender twin amp and $250 from me. I've googled classic asat with factory b bender and there is only one post from a magazine that shows only 12 were made during that time, but that just doesn't seem right. I've searched everywhere for info. I called G&L and because it's from the 90's, no info could be provided. He directed me to this site, so here I am asking for help. Thanks for reading

That seems completely plausible . It's not a huge factory .gediguitars wrote: I've googled classic asat with factory b bender and there is only one post from a magazine that shows only 12 were made during that time, but that just doesn't seem right.
Try a pencil rubbing to see the serial # , I think they ended the 3 bolt plates at G050000 .
Could it be 49xxx ?
You've come to the right place , there's a few around here that are bender fans.
Could you take a pic or two of the ASAT ?

Thanks for your response. Yeah I'm pretty sure it is G099621. I have a few pics he sent me, but like I mentioned it's hard to make out. I'd love to post some pics but I've tried to copy and paste and I'm not able to do that. How do I go about posting the pictures I was provided. Thanks for reading and your help is greatly appreciated.

I just happened to get a call from Dave McLaren on another matter and took the opportunity to ask him about a run of ASAT Classics with B-bender built in 1997.gediguitars wrote:Thanks for your response. He said they did a small run (10 or 15, but could not remember the actual number). The guitars were build as stock ASAT Classics and shipped to guy in Montana
who installed a Parson's B-bender on them and shipped them back. Dave could not remember if it was done for a specific store or who ordered them.
I would like to see the photos you have, see this post in the Announcements Section: Welcome! Read This First. It will point you to our Tutorial on posting photos.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Craig. I opened a photobucket account just for this. I've always been leery about sharing picture with photobucket, etc. because unfortunately the internet is like the Wild West and hackers are ghosts. But information and value on this guitar is very important to me. So here it goes. Please let me know if I've done it wrong or I need to change my setting or something. Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Any info on a asat classic with factory b bender??
I agree. It is a very unique guitar since I haven't been able to find any solid info on it. Apart from the feedback I've received here ( which I'm very grateful for). My dilemma to doing the deal is, I'm trading a $1000 amp plus $250 cash and I have to make a 2 hour round trip to get it. So, if I was forced to sell, could I get the $1,200 back out of it? I see some classics sell for $600 and up but being that this classic is unique, would it put it in that $1,200 range. I just want the deal to be fair and not get the short end of the stick. I like the fact it's not all routed out on the back for the b bender. Even though I'm not a b bender player. Maybe a sign to start. Haha. It looks definitely looks very clean for its age. Anyhow, if anyone knows about this run of asat classics and market value, keep me posted.
Thanks

First off, I would be interested in the guitar
But to put your potential trade in perspective, I just checked the Blue Book and an ASAT Classic of that era in Mint condition has a listed value of $1,000 dropping to $850 for one in Excellent condition. I think one should add $150-250 for the B-Bender. Of course you should check out the (trade-in) value for your amp too but from your description I cannot nail down the exact Twin you have to quote you a number. You can PM me with the year and model you have and I can give you a better idea of the value of your amp.
Hope this helps,

I'm not a bender guy and I'm not an ASAT guy, but my initial thought is that you'd be giving up too much for that guitar. It really depends on your Twin.
