Hey guys, would you post your Blackburst pics here?
I'm trying to get a good idea on how the blackburst looks before I order one. Seems like it is a tough color to photograph since most of the pics online look very dark. Hopefully you guys have some better pics.
Thanks and have a good one,
Jason

Re: Looking for Blackburst pics!
Have you tried doing a Google Image search for "G&L Blackburst"?
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&aut ... u6LAjdiQYs
I think it's hard to go wrong with any of the G&L "burst" finishes.
Hope you're going with a rosewood or ebony board and a black pickguard.

Yea, I've looked at the google images. I was just hoping to see some forum members personal pics.
I'm thinking of a Semi Hollow ASAT Deluxe, Swamp Ash (no maple top), Dual Fulcrum, Wood Binding and Satin Maple Neck.

You will need to find one of those already built.
G&L stopped offering Blackbusrt with body binding due to the increased difficulty it presents.

Re: Looking for Blackburst pics!
The Blackburst Comanche example on the G&L site appears to have wood binding.
http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/US ... kburst.asp
I may have missed it if it was brought up previously, but I never heard that the wood binding was creating a problem with the Blackburst. Is there something unique to the Blackburst finish that is unlike the other colors?

First posted here: Current US Neck/Body Binding & Contours Options.
And discussed some months later in this post: Question about ASAT Deluxe.
It does look like the factory has worked out the technical issue and I will confirm this with Dave.Fumble fingers wrote:here's a couple brand new Blackburst ASAT with natural wood binding ...... looks like you can still get binding on Blackburst

Re: Looking for Blackburst pics!
The way things go at the G&L factory it might have been worked out and not announced, quite typical of G&L factory things.
The used ASAT Classic Sam linked to could is the white binding rather than natural but it also could have been built prior to 2013 or at least prior to the decision to discontinue it, (yeah they say "New Other" but it's been taken out and gigged. It would be "Used" if it were you or I).:
I bought a new ASAT in 2013 and when I looked at the build sheet it had been built at the end of 2011. Technically NOS but it really has not been that long since dealers did not explain such concepts as NOS to customers unless they were describing why they were giving them a special deal. IOW, it has not come to the point where it is intentionally deceptive. People may not update their websites or the opportunity may not come up in the conversation when a buyer has other things on their mind. I don't believe it would need to be pointed out unless it was an issue. When I have seen it mentioned on ebay it usually was there with an explanation describing a lower price. One might think that by not pointing it out they would be selling old stock as new yet more often it suggests they are wanting to unload something collecting dust whereas the guy who doesn't say anything considers it as simply unsold merchandise waiting for a buyer.
In my case I found the ASAT searching online. It could have been there for years. I contacted the dealer already to arrange for the purchase. Its build date did not come up. Recalling our conversations it could have been used for all that mattered.
I hope G&L found a way because Blackburst looks really good with natural body binding.

Same goes for the "New" stock being sold on ebay by Studio Gears. The title does say "Brand New In Stock" however that is also just saying Not Used or Out of Stock. This guitar was used by Johnny Irion at the Tom Rush Boston Symphony Hall Concert in December 2013

That ASAT Classic SH has top white binding not wood binding, so the previous restriction does not apply to that one.Salmon wrote:The way things go at the G&L factory it might have been worked out and not announced, quite typical of G&L factory things.

Geez, listing it as "New other (see details)" is pretty bogus in my book. If it left the store and was used for even one event, it's used IMO.
