Good tuners

Post by tedkirkendall »

Hi, I got a used F100 that the previous owner put some crappy replacement tuners on. Can anyone please recommend some good ones to replace these with? Thanks very much.

you could go retro and use some vintage musicman tuners.
I imagine they were made by Schaller like the original F-100 kluson style tuners that your guitar
probably had originally.

What year is your F-100? They were in production for about ten years, and went through a couple of different stock tuners. Depending on the year, you may be able to find a close match to the originals.

Not sure of the year. The SN is G001907 and it's a Series I natural finish hardtail. I would choose quality over authenticity as far as the tuners go but if I can have both that's great too. Thanks again.

It sounds like you have a really early one. The serial numbers weren't sequential, but seeing as they started at G000500 yours was definitely from near the start. My F-100s aren't close at hand, but I will dig one out and get a photo of the back of the headstock.

That'd be great, thank you.
