According to the production log, this one was born 28 years ago today - February 6th, 1986:
The finish was white, but now it's a buttery yellow. In person, the shade is somewhere between the photo above and this one:
Here's a shot of the plastic pick guard, pickups and thin veneer ebony fingerboard:
And the ebony board from the other direction:
As with many G&Ls from the mid-80s, the headstock is color-matched:
Everything goes better with cats:
Enjoy!

looks good ken ..... the finish is like my S 500 , I told it was vintage white from the previous owner and thought so because of the way it has yellowed with time , Craig corrected me saying it's white and after seeing your pictures there is no doubt ....

I also asked Dave to check the factory log and he confirmed that the finish was White when it left the factory. FF didn't you get my email regarding this?Fumble fingers wrote:looks good ken ..... the finish is like my S 500 , I told it was vintage white from the previous owner and thought so because of the way it has yellowed with time , Craig corrected me saying it's white and after seeing your pictures there is no doubt ....
BTW, my 1982 White finished S-500 has not yellowed out as much as Ken and Fumble fingers' have done. Also, Vintage White finish did not become a factory finish until 2001.
Happy Birthday, Ken's Skyhawk!

My '84 Interceptor Bass is also white, but it has turned more of a cream color than butter yellow. This photo (taken by one of the previous owners) is very close to the true color:
I may post a PSA about this later, but if anybody is GASsing for an Interceptor Bass, one was just listed on TalkBass last night.

Re: Birthday porn - 1986 Skyhawk
I bought it in January 2011, IIRC. Bassman saw me trying it out in the store, introduced himself, and asked if I was a member here. I joined that evening (or re-joined, as it had been years since my last post and I couldn't remember my password). It looked exactly like it does now. The setup on this guitar is so perfect that I haven't even changed the strings since then...Fumble fingers wrote:how long have you had the skyhawk ??... was it yellowed when you got it ??

Just checked my avatar...I guess I took ownership in February 2011. It had to go through a 30-day hold period. I used to go to the shop after work just to get some bonding time with her...
