The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Winter NAMM 2014 - G&L/ BBE

Post by Craig »

Like last year, G&L and BBE shared space with Rivera Amps.

If you recall, last year G&L announced seven new guitar models and three new bass models at 2013 Winter NAMM. So, it's not too surprising
that not much new was shown this year. The Savannah Collection Series was on display (four of which are seen in the first photo above).

BBE had some new and revised products on display:

Thanks Craig. They have changed the graphics on a lot of the pedals. I think that is a good idea. What is the 5 string bass in the corner on the first photo (dark red?)--Darwin

It's the USA M-2500 bass.

I hope G&L had a legend describing all of the guitars on display as I have a few questions.

Are these promised to any dealers yet?

My nomination for Best of Show is the Old School Tobacco Sunburst S-500 in the upper left corner with the two ebony fretboard ASAT's** Honorable Mentions. They might even beat out the S-500 but I cannot see enough of them.

**Craig, in the box 2nd from the upper left are those ebony fretboards on the two center ASAT's?

Upper right box: I didn't realize that the Ascari GTS and Fiorano GTS guitars had neck binding.

I like the new minimalist paint jobs on the pedals. I have never liked the old ad style of the 50's. I think it was a good change to get away from the silver knobs. I prefer those cream amp knobs on the Soul Vibe.

Seeing the candy apple red Sonic Stomp, I think it would be cool if G&L/BBE used their guitar finishes on the pedals.

The Sonic Stomp looks nice in the photos, but they do not do it justice. I received one for my last stint as Lunch Reporter, and that finish is gorgeous. I'm not sure whether to call it metallic red or candy apple red, but either way it is the nicest finish I've ever seen on a pedal.

Were there any new G&L products?

Yes, it is a new pedal. No info yet on BBE's website, and I did not get a chance to meet up with Paul, so I cannot
provide any details on it.

I, too, liked the Fallouts they had on display.

Like last year, no tags on the displays.

G&L dealers usually work deals to get NAMM show guitars. However, I don't have access to info on which dealers get which instruments.

That Tobacco Sunburst (on Mahogany body) is a Tribute S-500 and it does look great.

IIRCC, those two ASAT Classic Bluesboy 90s both have Ebony fretboards.

Only the Custom Creations Savannah Collection was new at this show. However, they were announced and available last June, so not really new.
They do look great and the ASAT Junior II and ASAT Deluxe II were both light in weight (semi-hollow bodies). I did not check the other two (ASAT Classic Bluesboy 90
and ASAT Bass), so I cannot comment on them.

The weight of my Asat Savannah Bass is light for a G&L at 8 Lbs 13 Oz. A very nice weight. -- Darwin

I think they should just send me the Honeyburst Comanche for doing the Lunch Report this week! :happy0007:

I might have to get a set of the Ascaris--the red one and the P-90 version are really nice. And I like the Turquoise Flake color on the ASAT bass. The CAR Tribute Legacy is really sweet too!
