Hot Pickups??

I recently purchased a G&L Tribute S-500 and I love the tone! However, I get a scratchy type sound through my amp every time i brush across the pick guard. It only does it with this guitar, none of my others. I have tried everything from rolling back the volume, gain etc. and nothing seems to work. It's annoying because you can hear the scratchy sound through the tone. Any ideas? Are the pickups too hot, bad ground? Not sure how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Johnny. This is a common issue when it is low humidity. The fix is to cover the back of the pickguard with sticky aluminum tape like used in the hvac business. Many will tell you that you have to also ground the aluminum foil but I have done several without the grounding and it works just great. This will shield the static electricity from going into the electronics. -- Darwin

Do you wipe it on the inside, the outside or both? I don't have the problem. I am just curious if you can benefit from this and not need to remove the pickguard.

i just rub the sheet on the outside , I hit the hardware and knobs , even the couch I sit on gets static so I hit it too with the sheet , we have real dry weather in the winter and the sheet seems to help
