Hey Scott !! ..... looks like its just mounted on top of the body and the neck seems bigger/thicker to accomadate the Bigsby in order to keep action low , it sure would explain why it's sooo heavy ,10 plus pounds on my bathroom scale
this thing is begging for some chrome PU covers !!

What does the Custom Build Specifications say about the neck?
From the Options Page:
* ASAT guitar models ordered with Bigsby vibrato will automatically come with #1 neck.
Don't forget to add this beauty to our G&L Registry.
when you look at my bottom picture you can see how high the fret board is over the body , maybe they don't route the body as deep to keep the neck in line with the Bigsby that is not counter sunk into the body ?..... I'm OK with it , but she is heavy
That is a recent change. In viewing the photo, it looks as though the neck pocket isn't as deep, the Bigsby isn't routed and the bridge sits a bit higher giving the same overall result. Perfect and I think the no route look is awesome. That is how I would have designed it originally for the B-5--Darwin
the sheet says #1 G&L Classic C for neck
, Red,White & Blue Metal Flake for finish
, Mahogany with flame maple top for body wood ,
wood-bound for body other
.... I'll register it as USA Metal Flake since there is no white metal flake
Fumble fingers wrote:Craig , the registry doesn't have the 2014 model year as a option , completion date is 1/6/14 but have no option for 2014
Oops, it was an oversight on my part for not adding the new year. It's been fixed.
The "US Metal Flake" finish is in the list just further down. New finishes get added to the bottom of the list.
It's between "Trans Black" and "Aged Natural Gloss".
I like it !! .... pretty much a dual humbucker LP type of sound witch was what I was after , the sustain on this guitar is way better than my other G&L's not sure why but it really rings and for a long time , the neck feels great or better than my other #1 necks but that could be the NGD syndrome talking , there is a pretty good difference of volume between humbucker and single coil mode though not really a problem for me , the Bigsby is so controllable I'm digging that too although you can't do any dive bombs with it , I only had one day to play it loud on my Super Reverb before my wife came back from Alaska and it sure sounds good on that amp .... she's mighty heavy but well balanced (feels twice as heavy as my SC2 , lol), the finish is typical G&L great quality fit and finish , the flamed maple top on the mahogany makes the single binding look awesome , pictures don't do it justice
