Thanks supereiv! The Barber works beautifully with my DRRI. The two pedals within my particular Dual Discrete are a Direct Drive and an LTD, and having internal trim pots for each really allow both of these pedals to cover any range of gain that I could ever need. My favorite is the Direct Drive, and I have it dialed in to Barber's "Vintage Marshall" settings - sounds freaking killer with my ASAT!

Teleburst, you have a beautiful G&L burst there! What you have would be minimum Fender American Deluxe (binding, belly cut) and that is only two pickups, or a late 90 Tele Plus and tone that can't be matched by either of those. Nice guitar! -- Darwin

I love Barber, I love my Small Fry so much that I had to have another one, so there are 2 Small Fry on my pedalboard.teleburst wrote:Thanks supereiv! The Barber works beautifully with my DRRI. The reason why I asked that is I'm gonna change my amp soon (a Boogie F30) for a Fender, and I heard lots of things about the DRRI not lovin' all pedals... Yours love Barber(s) and that's freakin' good news !

Too true, but I've usually had good luck with most pedals going into a Fender. One exception in my experience, however, has been Xotic pedals. After going through the AC, AC+, BB+, and RC, I've decided that as long as I'm using Fender amps, the Xotic drive pedals won't work for me. And I know that through the right amp, Xotic pedals are phenomenal. Barber drive pedals have always sounded "right" to my ears through a Fender amp.

I realize and didn't mean to generalize Fenders in response to your inquiry about the DRRI. Barber drive pedals sound great, especially through a DRRI, and I believe a large reason for that is due to the bass response of the Barber's and the natural brightness of the DRRI evening things out. The Xotics that I owned sounded raspy and somewhat harsh through my DRRI. To say that I was "forever tweaking" is an understatement.

Thanks, that's good to know, but I don't own Xotic effects at all because I find them overhyped and overpriced, and they don't sound that good to my ears.
Your answer was right. My choice will be between DRRI, PRRI and TRRI, so my guess is the "Barber" rule applies with either of them.

Yeah, your Barber should sound killer through any of those Fenders. My Dual Discrete is awesome and has two of the best sounding (to my ears) Barber drives in one pedal, and I love that I have a killer Marshall tone in the Direct Drive, and can dial the LTD side to sound like a Tube Screamer, or a Treble Boost, or even just a clean boost - and they all sound great. The Dual Discrete is the heart of my board, and everything is built around it.
Xotic pedals are built like tanks, and though I just couldn't gel with their drive pedals (and I SO wanted to), I really love their EP Booster, as well as their SP Compressor. Yet two more pedals that I've owned in the past that I intend on owning again.
