Way to go Steve! Black, maple board and a Kahler to boot, talk about ending the year on high note. 8-)

Congrats! So, what's your verdict on the Kahler? Some call them tone wreckers, but my '86 with a Kahler sounds better to my ears than the one without.

Ken

ps - Here's how they look with ebony boards:

Thank you, to everyone for your compliments! I need to change the strings and set it up. I plugged it in long enough to make sure everything works. I slipped and fell on the ice Christmas day. I cracked a vertebrae in my back. Hopefully in a few days I'll be able to get it going.

Ouch, hope that doesn't heal too slowly!

If you take the neck off, share some pics of the markings. The first year (and especially the first couple months) can have some cool ones! I have a first month asat but it's not a kahler model.

Heal up soon!

Sprinter, I hope the back is feeling better. That is a great looking Asat. I'm always interested in seeing the vintage G&L's with a Kahler. They are great if they are set up correctly. Have you had the time to check it out yet?

I finally got it restrung and set up. It plays well and sounds great. I'm a big fan of Kahler tremolos! I was looking at my page in the Registry. I own 4 Kahler equipped guitars and only one dual fulcrum equipped guitar. I like the smoothness of a Kahler.

I prefer hardtails, and I rarely bother putting the bar in any of my tremolos. I do like the Kahlers though. The tuning stability is great, and the fine tuners are wonderful.
