Comanche 6 Studio coming?

Post by sam »

Just saw this on Premier Guitar online http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/I ... tions.aspx and the claim of a "new" Comanche Studio VI has me very intrigued. :o Can anyone confirm or deny this claim. IF confirmed when is it planned for release and any differences to the new version?

This article seems to go a ways back as it refers to "coming" F-100 an SC-2 but the Comanche VI has yet to be launched, any inside info that can be shared? :?:

It's been for sale since 2007, I see guitar adoptions has one listed.
All this talk recently of Comanche VI's reminds me I have to give mine some playing time.

Hi Sam,

It was a Custom Creations Special Build in 2007. Here's the link to it in the G&L main website: Comanche Studio VI. 100 were built in the first (and only, so far) run. We also have a listing for it in the G&L Production List in the G&L Knowledgebase.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if 100 were actually built? I ask mainly because Guitar Adoptions now has two in clear red finish, which obviously they custom ordered (neither honeyburst nor tobacco burst are these). I assume that in '07, G&L made 100 (or so) Comanche Studio VI pickguard/pup arrays for the planned run. Seems less likely and more costly that they would make just a few arrays now for a special order/non-standard color such as Guitar Adoptions did. Plus, I never saw that many Studio 6s listed at dealers (though I assume some went overseas)---I don't even recall Buffalo Bros. offering one (though they would order if asked, 'cause I asked!). WOndering if maybe all 100 planned were never ordered, thus not built. So a dealer now could order one in a different color and see if they sell. Just curious!

BTW, nice Jerry/Wolf/Champ pic, Sam!

Yeah I bought one of those Clear Red Studio VI from Guitar Adoptions and now there's also a Clear Red one for sale at www.oklahomavintageguitar.com They've got it listed as 'one of a kind' since only 100 were made and none were to have been that color. So how many were made in Red? :confused0007:
