It's a special run for a local shop, Studio Gears in Temecula. I should point out it's a Tribute model but as usual build quality is equal to anything on my wall. SG does mostly online but since they are close I did a will call order. It plays as nice as it looks. I was not a fan of the satin necks at first but after playing one for a while...

Much like Leo Fender and G&L overall I became a fanboy in short order.

I also just won an ebay auction for an S-500 USA Deluxe. Got a great price, $720.90.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. :D

Very sweet color combo Nnanji! I agree with Fumble, stunning woodgrain, proving once again that Tributes are a quality instrument in their own right.

Thanks y'all. Yes it's very Purdy! I wanted a Special and although I liked the Blueburst with Rosewood (I almost let my uncertainty about light satin neck finish sway me) this one kept calling my name like a pretty lady with her best dress on. It's a Swamp Ash body.

When I stop playing it sometimes I just sit at stare. /love

Hey Nnanji,

Looks like it came with a rugged case. Is it the feel or the look of the satin finished neck that you don't care for?

I love the feel of G&L's standard satin neck finish. I don't really think about the look but I am aware that my bias in favor of satin has lead to my finding the appearance of a high gloss finish inferior. I just know it will feel a certain way although I do not really have anything against the way wood looks when it has a shiny coating. I prefer high gloss bodies.

What finish does the S-500 have?

Actually Salmon the case is my own. It came with no case.

It was mostly the look of the satin necks. I got to love the feel pretty fast, but I like the way the high gloss looks hanging on the wall. Now that I have two satin necks though I have really started to like them and find that they feel awesome and look great.

The S-500 is pretty standard, tinted gloss neck with rosewood. It's basically the production model you can order from the online shops.
