Consultation on Asat Classic Triple band

Post by Mama Sam »

Hello friends
I have a question, want to know if the triple asat band should have the same serial number, which corresponds to the year they were manufactured, of the other guitars for that year.
From G027163 to G029962
I am asking this question because I offer a triple band with the serial number
G014919. It's okay to have this number?

Yes, that serial number is fine. BTW, that serial number has been registered in our G&L Registry. You can edit the registry entry and change the ownership to yourself.

On the standard production models, neck and body binding are optional features.

Here are some links regarding G&L serial numbering which might be of interest to you:

Hope this helps.

But Craig
The serial number G014919 for the year 1985.
ASAT Classic did not exist in that year ! .Tri-band and less.
I hope you understand me now, what is my doubt.

Thanks

Okay, I see what you are trying to find out.

Did you remove the neck to get the neck and body dates?

My point is that you cannot use the serial number as the only factor
in dating a G&L instrument. That's why I provided all three references.
Because neck plates were kept in a parts bin and randomly removed for
production, there is no other way of telling the actual build dates.
Also, do know whether or not that the neck plate is the original one used
by the factory during production?

Hope this helps.

Ok Craig
I do not think they'll let me take it apart to see date in the body.
I do not like having a plate of different time.
Craig Well thank you very much for your time
