Hi,
Take a look at this G&L ? Bass.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... ink:top:en
I can't decide if an L2000 was cut up and refinished or
if the G&L hardware was just placed on this weird body.
What do you think?

A strange G&L body?
Playing bass is a lot like playing chess. Easy to do but it takes a lifetime to master....

Kate, I think this was posted last week and no one really knew what it was. My guess is that it was an employee guitar but who knows. I would guess that it is more recent than older. I think it is cool.-- Darwin

Re: A strange G&L body?
It must be an employee guitar. There would have been a whole lot of hacking required to move the controls and the cavity. That could have been done and painted over, but it also looks to me like there wasn't a sixth screw hole in the neck (where the end of the pocket is beveled). The butt of the neck has the name "Toni" written in the same handwriting as the instruction to omit the model decal.
This could be an interesting fretless if nobody bids it up first.

it looks like it had a pick guard at one time from the empty screw holes

Here's the other thread Darwin was referring to: Cust..ummm? L-2000 fretless.fraidykat wrote:Hi,

I see it as a bunch of parts that could be used elsewhere , as is with most badly modded/molested axes,KenC wrote:Yesterday the bidding was up to $280...now it is BIN only at $1200...WTH?
it's worth the sum of the parts. That first auction put it around there. (400-500)
If you look at the sellers completed listings you'll see they had some issues with bidders , or maybe they got scared that
the bass would sell for less than they anticipated.
Isn't there a best offer option? That might be the safest format or at least the most comfortable for the seller,
hard to say for sure why.
Until they are willing to let it go for around 650(assuming someone is out there who likes it, has a 4" strap (no neck dive)
and maybe wants a lighter G&L ), I think we'll keep seeing it.
