New(ish) Legacy Day!

Post by jeffmarshall67 »

the Fed Ex man just came, I was able to talk my buddy Nick Greer out of this and one of his new pedals (Greer Amplification). It's around a 2005 Fullerton Red in perfect shape, will take it apart tonight when the little one sleeps and get it's exact date. Really nice mid-weight feel to it, and all the paperwork and certificate are coming in another shipment. The pickguard is a slight mint green, but due to my lack of photography skills these pictures all make it look bone white. All stock, except for a custom wound set of Don Mare pickups in it that sound fantastic. He had them made for this, with the bridge being hotter. He also says the neck/middle are RW, but not the middle/bridge. I haven't been able to crank it up enough to enjoy that part of it yet, but all I know is at normal volumes it just sounds great. I never alter the pickups in a G&L because I really like the stock ones, but it's fun to have a very cool and different sounding one.

I'm a huge sucker for the old Gun Oil Tint finish, some complain it's orange but it just clicks with me. Wish it was still an option, the new GOT finish is nice but way too light for my tastes

Jeff, that one is a keeper! I, like you, much prefer the old GOT necks to the newer stuff. The wood absorbing the stain is what made it interesting instead of just spraying tint. Beautiful guitar. Red is my favorite color. If I hadn't made choices in colors, my wall would have been covered with Red guitars-- Darwin

That thing is sexy. Love the neck, Fullerton red is so hot.

I would prefer a white pg myself.

I've never understood why the red S-type guitars always seem to have mint PG? Is there some historical reason for this, like the old tv white/yellow or something?
