My first G&L !!

Post by bikegerm »

I just purchased my first G&L ASAT Classic #CLF13384. It's a '97-'98 with Seymour Duncan 52's. It's also my first maple neck and single coil guitar I've ever owned. It's a dream come true !! This beauty plays & sounds amazing. My VOX AC30CC1 and pedal board finally sound the way I've been wanting to hear them. I've been playing a Ibanez ARX-500 artist series with Seymour Duncan SH-1 & SH-14 humbuckers for a few years. Nice guitar to build my electric chops with, but I've never been completely happy with the sound. Now I am !!

Nice ASAT Classic! My gateway G&L was a blonde '98 Classic. It's still one of my top guitars.

What kind of neck pickup is that?

BTW, welcome to G&LDP. I noticed you're in Takoma Park. I'm out by Annapolis. We have a couple of other folks around here from the Montgomery County area.

Maryland's Montgomery & Anne Arundel county members need to come by TP and check out our studio. Also.. who's the "go to" guy when it comes to working on the electronics on the darlings in our area ? As for the neck pickup... its a Seymour Duncan STR-52 paired with a bridge STL-52.

The only repair tech I've used in this area works at Atomic Music in Beltsville. I'm drawing a blank on his name at the moment. He is very vocal with his opinions that Leo Fender had gone deaf by 1980 and all G&L circuits are too shrill, but I was very happy with the job he did putting the original Schaller pickups back into my '86 Superhawk. Just print whatever wiring diagram you need from the Gallery and take it in with the guitar.

Welcome, Cool ASAT. Were those standard pickup for that timeframe or have they been replaced?--Darwin

I have one virtually identical, even the year is the same! I don't think you can get a better colour scheme on an ASAT Classic
