Sunday Night S-500 Design
Same thing as the ASAT.
Design me a cool S-500 build to show of the G&L's at the store.
If this works out I am going to have you guys design all my builds.

now i know why other people don't complain about the lack of options like i do. it seems for most all there is to building a guitar is to pick a finish a pickguard and a neck wood.

Clear red over ash, black pick guard, knobs and pickup covers, quarter sawn maple neck with ebony board, black graph tech nut, medium jumbo frets, 12" radius, and those matte finish Sperzel locking tuners if they still do them. Oh, and as a hard tail please.

Re: Sunday Night S-500 Design
I'd like to have to NENA finish a standard option too, as well as a 10" radius fretboard - but 10 neck shapes, 3 neck tint levels, 2 neck finish sheen levels, 48 colours (excluding the Jerry Cantrell custom only finishes), two choices of fret size and type, several different models with a variety of different pickup configurations is a LACK OF OPTIONS for a guitar that costs the same as an off-the-production-line Fender? I think that's heaps.louis cyfer wrote:now i know why other people don't complain about the lack of options like i do. it seems for most all there is to building a guitar is to pick a finish a pickguard and a neck wood.

Whatever you do, make sure it is the 11/16th nut or larger.

Re: Sunday Night S-500 Design
A sweet S500:
Ash
Blonde
Single-ply white guard, or possibly white pearl
White pups
Quartersawn neck, clear satin
Rosewood board
Big frets
Bone nut
Locking tuners
And yes, big nuts are better! Number 3 neck will be nice for lots of folks.

Re: Sunday Night S-500 Design
I've been thinking about another Legacy Special... Ruby Red, matching headstock, satin light vintage tint neck, graphite nut, pearl guard, white plastic knobs. And a matching one in Midnight Blue might be nice, too.
You definitely need a couple of Legacy Specials in the shop!
Hope to see you at the Kent Guitar Show September 15th!

Just the barest outline of design.louis cyfer wrote:now i know why other people don't complain about the lack of options like i do. it seems for most all there is to building a guitar is to pick a finish a pickguard and a neck wood.
Not designing for myself but letting the store tailor it to their needs.

Re: Sunday Night S-500 Design
Either a #3 or maybe #4 neck
--- #1
Tobacco burst on a swamp ash
vintage tint satin neck with ebony FB and black head stock
Graph-tech nut, black plastics
Wish they had gold hardware as an option. I wonder if any off-menu for the fret-markers exist? something dark but not quite black would be slick.
-- #2
Sonic blue over alder
Light tint satin neck, maple FB, MOP dots
black pickups, pearl pg and bone nut
For either I'd swap the knurled knobs for ones like on a legacy and hope I could get used to the toggle switch

Re: Sunday Night S-500 Design
I like the design except for the ebony.
There are a lot of skinny neck fans out there and not many skinny necks available w/out special order, so if you order a #1a for stock, and let it be known it is available, pretty safe bet one of us 'left out' folks will jump on it.
