G&L Gig Bag - Who Makes/Made Them?
I recently snagged a G&L gig bag off eBay for about 30 bucks, and I have to say it's by far the best gig bag I've ever owned. Much better than a Fender bag, or the bags available at the Guitar Center. The one that I bought has the lighter colored stripe down the middle and the G&L red oval logo. I'd love to buy another one or two similar bags, and I wonder who the manufacturer is so I can be on the lookout for a similar bag with or without the G&L branding.

I forwarded your question to Dave McLaren and here is his reply:JonL wrote:I recently snagged a G&L gig bag off eBay for about 30 bucks, and I have to say it's by far the best gig bag I've ever owned. Hope this helps.Hi Craig,
The manufacturer is a Korea-based company called Namcheon International.
If I were him, I'd set up an ebay alert to snag them when they show up.
Thanks, Craig.
Dave

Re: G&L Gig Bag - Who Makes/Made Them?
I have one with the white G&L logo. I snagged it new on ebay for cheap about 10 years ago. I've never been able to get an answer as to how it differs from the one you have.
I have raved about the quality of this bag--for a conventional, light weight gig bag it can't be beat. To get a better one you have to spend way more and get a Reunion Blues or similar, which are really in a separate class--not really gig bags, but soft side cases.
A guy I know just snapped the headstock on his SG when it merely fell over. The bag he had it in might as well have been a pillowcase--totally useless. The G&L bags have superior padding and the all important velcro neck strap.

this showed up on ebay a few hours ago...maybe make the seller a reasonable offer if that's what you want.
( not the grey striped one, looks good tho )

That's the one that is like mine. The asking price is a bit high--try giving him a lowball offer.
I was not aware that G&L no longer offered these in their store.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply, Craig. And I also appreciate the other comments. I do have a saved search on eBay for the gig bag, but unfortunately it also returns all the G&L guitars and basses that are being offered with a gig bag in the listing. Well, maybe not "unfortunately," since I get to gawk at all the beautiful G&Ls!
I did see the pricey one on eBay, without the stripe, and considered making an offer. He's fairly local, too. I could pick it up and pay him cash. I did wonder if it was of similar quality to the one I have, and thanks to Suave Eddie it seems as if it is.
I wonder if there's a way to find out other brands under which the Korean maker sells these. I'll google them and see what I can find....

Yes I now have one of those--truly in a class by themselves.louis cyfer wrote:have you ever tried reunion blues? if you want a great gig back, those are the ticket.
But for an inexpensive lightweight conventional style "bag" the G&L is the best I've seen. I would not pay the $100 retail price, but for $30 it is well worth it. My SC-2 goes in the G&L bag, my custom ordered ASAT goes in the Reunion Blues.
