NGD!!!!!! Bigsby Inside

Post by gitman001 »

Hey All,

So....... I have had some extra $ burning a hole in my pocket from all the gigs lately....

This popped up last week and i could not get it out of my head. I pulled the trigger on Thursday, and she arrived yesterday.

It is a newer (2011 or so) ASAT special. Black with matching headstock, Double bound in white, AND a Bigsby! I'll share some photos, as i just got home and haven't even plugged it in yet! It needs new strings and a quick tweak and she should be good to go.

It is hot as blazes here this week so we are not rehearsing, but i will try to post so vids next week.

Thanks guys,

It would look great with an ebony board..... Truly, I had never even considered owning a black guitar until i came across this one. Something about it just spoke to me!

Scott, that is one classy looking guitar. Should only be photographed with a beautiful lady on either side and a martini nearby. Shaken not stirred ...

- Jos

P.S. Look out when using the Bigsby. Only use multiples of 6! It might be rigged by Q ... ;)

Sensational score scotty congrats mate!!!
As for that "wall of shame" I'm drooling here  I soooooo wanna be somewhere near there one day lol,fantastic...
Just an aside though brother if I may...
An exchange we had sometime back regarding the SC-2 was a deciding factor on why I pulled the trigger on the LE-2 bud yet I only see one in your harem?
Any more lying about?
Cheers..

I like the rosewood; ebony would be too French Riviera. And rosewood makes such a nice fingerboard in every way.
It will go great with the lady and the martini just as it is. Really fine guitar! :luv:

that is a nice looking guitar. it has a very movie western look to it. it makes me think of cowboy boots, chaps, spurs and stetsons.

nice wall of guitars. the one i like most is the one also in your avatar. i love the body shape and that in sparkle blue.

that looks very nice. i like the black pg, but i'd prefer a maple neck on this. i would probably swap the bigsby for the dussenberg version. but a very nice score, and definitely a looker.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I had a chance to replace the strings and set it up yesterday..... I am very, very happy with it. It was also the first time i have ever changed strings on a bigsby! I heard they were a pain in the butt....so glad i watched the tutorial video on the bigsby site... a capo! who knew... ( if you don't know what I'm taking about, head over there and have a look)

Elwood - Unfortunately I do not own a bow tie, or six shooter for that matter!! What a pic of George :D

Supereiv - The 25th probably gets the least amount of play time out of all the guitars i own. The mahogany with the f-100 pickups give it a very different sound. It is very full and round, a great rhythm guitar. It just doesn't seem to fill enough space in the current band where i am the only guitar player.

BP - I was really close to pulling the trigger on another SC-2 a few weeks ago! I am glad i was patient or i would not have been able to get this one. But i do also have an le-2 coming, so that will be the second SC shape

Eric, I can answer that. I just turn the handle back toward the Strappin and it fits in the case very nicely.-- Darwin

Elwood,

No dinner jackets either!! As long as the jacket is Aqua Blue Sparkle I am in! And i would wear it proud.

I have watched that video numerous times... Love it! No if G&L had a flame finish like on that Ludwig kit i would be all over it! Imagine Sparkle flames.... Ummmmm

hehe...I would play one of those...might need a treble booster though , I imagine the thick flake finishes have a measurable dampening factor in the highs. I ussually roll off the highs a bit so I guess that would be on tap anyway.

I'd seen that vid so many times that it is filed under sparkle jackets as well as mad drummer in my brain.

I'll see if I can source some flakey attire :D

The drummer in that video was great. His central-nervous metronome was pretty damn good and he was authoritative and tasteful.
It's the other two I'm not sure about.

I haven't found anything 'suitable' on ebay in aqua blue , we might have to hire a tailor and buy a a few yards of sparkle fabric.

These came up during my search (pardon the tangent ) ; does anyone know of any G&L connection with Georgia Tech ?
I never realized how close the logo is to our guys at Fullerton tech :eh:
