Nice pic Tim! Hard to believe it is almost 4 years ago (next Thursday) that George passed away and 8 years ago the picture was taken. Time flies doesn't it?

That's priceless Tim.
Thank you...I'm holding that pic in my head forever.

Re: One of my Favorite all time pixs!
Ok Tim...this post has to be one of the most insightful and entertaining of all posts....ever !Tim GuitarsOnTheWeb wrote:Mersault - Nope, from his time in the Navy.
However, I did ask him once what he and Leo Fender thought of guys like Jimi Hendrix, setting guitars on fire, etc. He said "we couldn't understand why anyone would want to destroy a perfectly good guitar." LOL!
Here's a great story ~ When Fender made their first "big solid state" amp and the hand built proto-type rolled out of the lab, one of the CBS suits secured The Who as an endorsement. None of the CBS guys had seen The Who's act. So here were a bunch of exec's sitting in the front row when they wheel out their hand built $125,000 proto-type amps. The only ones in existence. For those who've never worked with proto-types, due to man hours, hand tooled custom one-off parts, they are super expensive. And if you haven't guessed it already, they sat in horror when The Who demolished the amps on stage at the end of the act. Hilarious and served them right! I bet the CBS dude was looking for a new job the next day!
Regards,
Tim
I hold Chas Chandler partially responsible for stage acts. For a llong time I thought Hendrix just burnt the one at Monterey . I didn't know later that Chas kept pushing him to do the same at later gigs.
Going to the extreme of sacrificing something you love for maybe a greater sort of love, I get.
(I'll stop there)
Thanks for the good stuff !!! Keep it coming .

Nice pic of George, Tim ! What do you own for G&Ls now ? I just bought about 6 in the last year. I wish I kept a lot of mine that I sold in the past, but now I have better and more of the G&Ls I have wanted for awhile now. I don't plan on selling again.

I was about to ask that same question. The photo in George's book looks exactly like mine. It's one of the absolute best guitars I've ever played.Skyhawk wrote:Tim, do you still have your skyhawk ?

My 84 white skyhawk is also one of the best skyhawks I have ever played or heard. Something about the very early skyhawks.
