G&L "Everyone" Signature Edition

Post by patricks »

So, here's a random idea - G&L is kinda known for not having a long list of endorsements, so that they can keep costs down and focus on guitars for the rest of us. So many of us have really sweet ideas for custom guitars, though, so how about a once-a-year event where one of us gets an endorsement? A custom guitar built to the winner's specs, unique from the rest of the G&L line. It'd have to be crowd-funded (a "raffle", if you prefer old-skool lingo), so that the entry fees would subsidise the cost of the guitar for the winner, but it'd be a chance for the lucky winner to add some "off-list" features, like a contoured heel, or that sort of thing.

Now, G&L is not a dedicated custom shop and any US-built guitar is unique anyway; the aim wouldn't be to turn G&L into a custom guitar builder, just a one-off chance for one lucky person to show their love for G&L by co-creating an extra-extra special guitar. Anyway, I just thought I'd share. If nothing else, it's a good excuse for a "what's your fantasy G&L" thread!

Mine's a mahogany (or koa, or monkeypod) Comanche with no pickguard and a contoured heel in a natural finish, quartersawn maple neck with an ebony fretboard and markers on the side only.

neat idea...I'll have to think about my fantasy G&L.
An S-500 deluxe body ,roasted maple neck ,DFS, black crinkle neck plate and tremelo cover.
Maybe a big MFD at the neck and vintage voiced alnicos at the bridge and middle...
As you say , it's a good seed for brainstorming in the least.
The LE2 has developed nicely , I just wish I had the funds available to get one.

Sounds like a neat idea - $50 tickets and any excess funds raised from the raffle could go to a charity, perhaps one that George or Leo had something to do with.

I'll take an SC1 in NENA honey-ale with a cream coloured over-wound pickup and Solamente wiring. Or maybe one made entirely out of roasted maple with a natural satin finish...
