NGD prototype content

(edit added new pictures taken in daylight with a DSLR)
Hi everybody !
today is THE Day, the day I received my S-500 deluxe prototype. Here it is !
Autumn burst is really hard to photograph, but the second picture is close !

As for the sound of it, I changed strings and adjusted the tremolo. It's really something else (remember I have two ASAT a classic custom alder/RW and classic S/SH swamp ash w/maple), the attack is somewhat subdued, but in a really good way, it's more forgiving than my two ASATs, there are a lot of medium freq in it, but also some nice treble and bass. I can go from really warm strato clean or crunch, to a claptonesque super middy sound with just the three controls on the guitar. It begs to be played with overdrive !
It's always difficult to describe sounds with words (especially in a foreign language) let's try to compare, if the ASAT is a short sportive girl, no make up, really quick (think martial arts), the S-500 deluxe is a tall girl, with brown skin and bikini (think surf). Does that make sense ?

we could try with cars : ASAT is a porsche 911, S-500 is a Mustang Shelby.

well, I'm really happy with my purchase, it sounds really awesome, and I'm already sure it will find its place between my two others. I plan on gigging with it the 21st of june, I'll report.

Nice evening to you all, I'm gonna shut up an play my guitar :D

Lovely guitar! The autumn burst, flame pattern and no pickguard are just brilliant :thumbup:

Does G&L have any plans for a no-pickguard Comanche (hint, hint)...?
G&L Tribute Comanche || G&L Tribute L-2500 || Roland XV-88 keyboard || Roland TD9 V-drums || Austin ribbon mic || Sennheiser HD280 Pro cans
Studio One 2.6 (64 bit) || Audiobox USB || Asus U50f Intel Core i3, Windows 7 x64

That is just beautiful, Xavier. How was the action on it? My last two have been set up pretty high.

Why does shipping to France take so long? I think you ordered this the same time my SC2 was sent!

Thanks ! Actually it quickly became the number one in my wife and daughter's hearts :D
Autumn burst looks really awesome in person, it is just that, the warm reds and yellows of an autumn landscape.

Jamie, the action is nice, quite like my ASAT, it's even easier to play, that said, I don't play really low action on my guitars. The neck is strictly the same as the Classic Custom's. The fingerboard looked really dry, so I used lemon oil and changed the strings to a new set of d'addario 10/46. I had to fine tune the springs of the tremolo which wasn't parallel enough. Otherwise, it is just great, and suprisingly straty, it reminds me a lot of the other high end superstrats I tried (a suhr, two Tom A and two Vigier), for half the price !!
The shipping was a bit long, I ordered it the thursday and James told me he wasn't able to ship it before the monday, which he did.
USPS is strange, it took 4 days to go from Seattle to L.A, and another 4 days to go from L.A to france.

In the end, it is a great guitar, no excuse me, it is a GREAT guitar, at a ridiculous price.

Pretty happy with the deal.

Told you it was fantastic! Glad you love it....the little touches like the push pull expander switch really makes that one stand out

Yes I love it, actually it may become n°1 pretty quickly !
The expander switch is cool, though I have the same thing on my ASAT classic S so it's not new to me.
What's striking is that guitar has all the good of a strat (less percussive IMO) and much much more, it clearly is a multifaceted tool !

Xavier,
Thanks again. I think this one should be a keeper. My only regret is that I did not use it to make a video before I shipped it out. Even on a wall of over 30 USA G&L guitars it stuck out as the most striking one.

Any chance of posting a photo of the back of the body? I'd love to see the Equatorial Mahogany finished in the burst color.

Hey Craig, haven't took the back yet, but I will !
As told on G&L website, the back is painted with the edge color of burst, looks a lot like an old SG.

James, I just couldn't believe my eyes when I got closer to the window :o it is not only stunning, it sounds damn good !
A keeper ? Sure ! My children will have it when I'll pass away.
