Hi,
I picked this up a couple weeks ago, and it's a great player. I had a blue swirl one years ago that just never made a good sound but this one sure does. I tore it apart tonight to set it up and get it right, and found some interesting stuff written on the neck. Anyone wanna decode any of this? It's an early one, late 92....but the ballpoint pen stuff isn't anything I've seen before. Does the "lake blue" signify a certain color? Anyone know why a marketing company was written in it?

Hi Jeff,
Quite a beauty you have there. 'Lake Blue' likely refers to the color Lake Placid Blue. 'First choice marketing' might indicate this guitar was to be used at trade shows (NAMM maybe?) and dealer meetings to show off what G&L could achieve. And finally, John Rodriguez, who I believe was the purchasing manager at G&L at the time and a long time Leo associate, is one of the only 6 people (the late Dale Hyatt got 2) who originally received a Lacewood Commemorative!
Some very relevant history there in the pocket!
Hope this helps,
- Jos

Thanks for the info Yo, the finish is a very slight metallic so I'm hoping it's "lake placid blue metallic". Hopefully you're right about the NAMM guess, it is super early for a Climax and was finished just a couple months before the show would have happened.
Hope to run into you one of these days, I go bother James at the Guitar Store when I can
