Just got this S-500 a few weeks ago. Traded in some guitars I never play. I can assure you this will get played.
Had the Skyhawk since it was new. All original except strap locks. It needs a good cleaning and is due for a setup.
I have played it a lot. I like the 7.25" neck radius more than the larger radius necks on my other guitars.
2 G & L guitars is not enough. Next conquest begins....

Baldy,
That is a very nice pair. Was wondering how the pups (Leo-era MFDs vs BBE-era MFDs) pups compared to your ears.

Nice pair. It's not all that common to see an S-500 with the saddle lock bridge.
It's a slippery slope, and it's a fun rideyowhatsshakin wrote:Oh oh. Down the slippery slope we go ....

I did a quick side by side comparison in the same amp. I was surprised how different they sound. Not sure how to characterize it.
Need more time to compare.

Maple top yes. Not sure about the ash. Bought it used with no spec sheet. I'm not a very good wood grain detective.supereiv wrote:Is that swamp ash w/maple top ?

Post a photo of the back of the body. We should be able to identify the wood type. It will either be Basswood or Swamp Ash,Baldy wrote:Maple top yes. Not sure about the ash. Bought it used with no spec sheet. I'm not a very good wood grain detective.supereiv wrote:Is that swamp ash w/maple top ?
depending upon when it was built.
