I regret letting that one go.

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

I regret letting that one go.

Post by Dick Seacup »

Hey, folks! Been a while since I've visited here. I do still own a G&L, believe it or believe it...that bass boat sparkle blue ASAT Z3 is still kicking around my pad! LOVE IT!

But that's not why I dropped in. Many years ago I had a Comanche in old-style tobacco burst, with natural binding, black pups, cream pickguard, ebony board and DF trem. Stupidly, I sold it (hey, I was in horse-trading flipper mode at that time!!). I miss that guitar. A lot. More than I probably should.

Of all the guitars I went through during that phase, there were three I really regretted selling. A wrap-tail Hamer Studio FM that I had gotten from Alpep for a hella good deal, the Comanche and a Steinberger GP. Of those, I managed to get the Hamer back a couple years ago from the guy I sold it to (completely fluke; he listed it on eBay and I recognized the serial!). The other two, sadly, seem to have disappeared.

Did you ever let a G&L go that you wish you hadn't? What did you do about it?

EDIT: Oh, wait, there was the ASAT Junior I sold to the cat in....Texas?....that eventually ended up destroyed by FedEx or UPS. Man what a shame. Regret that one, too.

(cue Frank...."Regrets, I've had a few...but then again, too few to mention....")

Dick, good to see you back. I am glad that you were able to recover one of them. I have also sold quite a few but I can honestly say that I don't regret selling most of them. I have replaced most of them with something I like better. Don't ever give up as you never know what may turn up. I sold a MM John Petrucci which has been listed on our local CL three times since I sold it. Each time a buyer has tried to flip it.-- Darwin

Thanks, man. I do look every so often on eBay and craigslist. I don't really have any hope of picking up those 'lost' souls, and am very thankful I got that Hamer back (I was jamming out on it last night for about an hour while my 6yo son played drums...lol!). Maybe I'll just have to buy a different Comanche. ;)

the one that got away ? , for me its a Buck owens ASAT that was on ebay , if I never even played it , it would be worth it owning just for the shear beauty of the finish , I would be totally happy just being able to look at it everyday , all though I have never owned a Buck Owens G & L it would be the ultimate G & L for me ... some day I will own one

Fumble fingers, there is a new one hanging in my buddy's shop here in Seattle. He ordered it when I custom ordered mine, and as of a couple days ago it's still there.

I wish I could right now , but I've spent my guitar allowance (lol) for the time being .... I bought 3 G & L's , 2 new ones and a used in about a 4 week time frame .... so it ain't all bad ..... I was hoping the factory might do another new Buck Owens for me on a ASAT special with no PG and a DF or bigsby
