Hi everybody
Another G&L is going to my home...
Well it must be in its box at the moment somewhere in Seattle and will hopefully be there in a couple of weeks

you can go there http://www.glguitars.com/prototypes/guitars/index.asp for the specs...

just look at this, I just CAN'T wait :luv:

It will be my fourth G&L (one got away), and not the last I guess.

Nice one, Xavier. Autumn burst is so classy. I just had a look at the specs at the G&L website - equatorial mahogany body, very cool  Looking forwards to more pics!

Yes, equatorial mahogany sounds appealing to me too. It's one of the reasons I went for that one.
the dealer states it weights 8lbs 7.7oz, it looks like it will be on the light side.

Yes, that one is great! Autumn Burst is still one of my favorite colors. Beautiful without a pickguard. You will be happy!-- Darwin

I played that guitar here in Seattle, and it's a great guitar. Loved how it had a push pull instead of a mini toggle switch. I sweated out buying it but I'm not a fan of that neck profile or the satin finish on the back of the neck (just my likes). You'll love it

Just out of curiosity, what do you have against RW fretboards? Is it aesthetics, or sonic?

here's what I remember about it. A great weight, not too light and not too heavy. Some strat type guitars almost feel too light to me, but this one was just right. The top looks better in person than the picture, if you can believe it. Lots of subtle flame the picture doesn't show (because of all the non subtle flame I think!). I looked it over pretty good since I was interested in it, and couldn't find any flaws at all on it. Sounded really, really good. With the expander switch set to "all on", it had a massive and really full sound. I can't say if it's because of the wood combinations or not, but it just had that "fantastic guitar" quality to it. Not all guitars do, so it's nice when you run across one. Plus, you get to have that feeling that no one has one like this but you! James bought a ton of the prototypes, and this one really was the pick of the litter in my opinion.

James and his gang are good guys, you bought from a nice local and small business that takes care of their customers and gives great customer service too.

I'm not a fan of the satin finish necks, much prefer the vintage gloss finish on them. I have dry hands and for some reason the satin doesn't feel right to me. The headstock had this finish, which really looks great on it. If they had finished the whole neck in it I would have taken it home. The last 3 G&Ls I've bought new have had to be custom ordered, because I love the #1d neck, so that is something quirky about my tastes.

Thanks for the insight Jeff.
It makes me even more impatient, if that's possible !

James was very nice to deal with, always answer mails quickly. I'm glad to shop in a small local business (that's what I do in France whenever they have what I want).

As for the things that kept you from buying that very guitar, I love the #1 neck and the satin finish. I have 2 ASAT, one with a #1 neck rosewood board satin finish and the other with a #1 with gloss GOT maple board. So I could really compare the two. I had a '93 Legacy special that had a slim fast neck, and I much prefer the #1 !

Anyway, thanks again.

with you liking the #1 and a satin finish, you'll have a hard time putting this one down! Keep us posted
