Skyhawk vs S500 question

Post by Baldy »

Hi folks. I just found an S500 from 1985 for sale online. It looks almost identical to my 1985 Skyhawk. It does not have the mini toggle switch like he newer S500's ( just picked up one of those 2 weeks ago, about a 2001-2 Cherry Burst over flame maple, near mint- new love :luv: ). So can you please tell me if the older S500 has any differences from the Skyhawk? I don't like buying guitars online cause I can't play them first, but what the heck- gotta live a little!
Thanks!

See this post in our G&L Knowledgebase, General G&L Questions sub-forum: S-500 single coil size pickups on early 80's model.

By mid-1984, the control circuit in the Skyhawk changed, so the 1985 S-500 should sound different from your 1985 Skyhawk.

Hope this helps.

Oops! My Skyhawk is 1984 not 85.
