My pole pieces are real loose and vibrate out to the strings

Post by Fumble fingers »

some of the pole pieces are vibrated loose towards the string on my ASAT Classic .... are they suposed to be real loose ?? ... they turn right back in but I'm sure there going to vibrate back out ..... I did a search and no matches are found ..... is this normal or do they need some "Blue" Loc-tite or something ??

thanks , Eric

thanks , I was hoping you would reply ... I have two of the three , loc-tite and nail polish ...... do you adjust the pole pieces for equal output for all strings ?? ...... 4 of the 6 were turned way way out , maybe a 1/4 inch out or slightly more , the other two were almost level with the pick-ups , not sure how I want to base line it , for the moment I have them turned almost in flush maybe a turn out from flush with pick-up , it sounds better all ready , I think this might be some of the "ring" I was hearing before in a previous thread I started

thanks , Eric

As a starting point, I would set them all level flush, then adjust the pole screws for even response for all strings.

If this resolves the ringing issue in your earlier post, please do update that post, so that others can benefit from this possible resolution.

Thanks,

+1. If they needed to be that far out, you should just raise the pickup a bit and try again.

this is really the first time I cranked it up guitar to Peavey Classic 30 amp since the last post , had the house to myself tonight :) .... been playing my head phones through a Line 6 floor pod plus with no amp and it doesn't do it through the floor pod , the "Comanche problem" thread is what got me looking at the pole piece's ... I'll try it tommorow , if it sounds good I'll up-date the thread and I bet it does ...... just now put some nail polish and screwed them in flush so thanks for the input

BTW ... strings 2 through 5 were all turned out

I think your going to be pleased after fixing this and dialing it in a bit,overextended/too close to the strings... poles can cause
a few unmusical events :?

start with all of them in as stated above, pups far from the strings, (mfd's are hot, no need to get them too close), set the bridge pup distance first and the other to match the output. then start with the pole pieces to balance the strings to desired output.

When I mention Loctite, I am referring to the blue Loctite. Do not use Red!-- Darwin
