I don't have a way to record and post on the net .... I'm electronically challenged , any suggestions short of listing ??..... its kinda a high pitch ring that only seems to be heard when multiple strings are played , never seem to hear it on a lead single note playing just chords ..... I read the microphonic thread thinking maybe its related but mine doesn't seem that type of noise

Does it happen on all pickup settings?

Pretty hard to determine without hearing it.

I have a feeling its my ears , been a real busy couple three weeks in the shop and seems like a lot of the jobs lately have needed the air hammer wich is hard on the ears , even with ear protection .... haven't been playing anything else but my ASAT the last couple weeks wich is when I started to notice the ringing ..... I just had my Fender strat plugged in for the last 30 minutes and it has the same type of ringing now too , so I asked my wife and she doesn't hear it , so it must me

thanks for the replies , sorry for the false start , I feel like a idiot

Not to be alarming, but permanent hearing loss can start with a temporary ringing in the ears. Fortunately it is almost always reversible early on if the ears are given a chance to recover. Is the ringing there all the time, or only when you play? I've suffered from tinnitus for about five years (ever since I was forced to fly with a very severe ear infection), and a lot of times I only become aware of the ringing when I'm in a very quiet room or when I'm trying to listen to something (like my own playing). Otherwise it kind of gets lost in the background noise. FWIW, I would seriously consider seeing an audiologist if it doesn't clear up very quickly. I'd try to find one who specializes in occupational hearing loss, or else an occupational medicine physician. They are usually more familiar with noise-induced loss than ones in general practice.

It may also be worthwhile to make sure your hearing protectors are up to the task. Some types will do no good (or possibly even do harm) if they aren't maintained or worn a certain way. Some also just aren't effective with especially loud industrial noises. It's not hard to figure out as long as you know just what to look for on the labels, but I don't want to hijack the thread with a lot of details. Please PM me if you would like to discuss this off-line.

**** UPDATE ****the pole pices vibrated loose toward the strings on the neck pup and adjusting them level with nail polish definetly seems to "fixed" the ring in the neck pup ..... 4 of the 6 strings were effected on this PU , high and low E were the only ones not effected .... sounds way better

seems like the"ring" still there on the bridge so I adjusted the bridge pup lower and the bridge seems better but not quite perfect ... lost my opportunity to adjust more when my wife came home .... encouraging none the least , I think with a little more time I can get it better .... maybe I can send her to the grocery store or somewhere for a couple hours ...lol ...... all in all , it sounds way better and I'm sure there's a little more in there as the bridge is still a little louder than neck pup
