Is this legit? G&L Korina Deluxe

Post by papaphaedrus »

Hey guys, I got referred to you by the wonderful folks at tdpri. I wonder if you can help me out?

My friend is looking at this guitar, seller says it's 1 of 100 made and has a certificate of authenticity. As far as I can tell, it is a good price ($700), but I have doubts as to the 100 made claim. He also says it is a Korina Deluxe 1 NOT 2 which I think is BS, because of the TOM bridge. As far as my research showed, the 1 had a more traditional hardtail bridge, and I found no mention of these guitars being a limited run...

Yep. That's what I thought, and in no way a limited edition?

I recently bought the ASAT Junior II from the same series and, as the others said, it's legit. And unless that guitar has been abused and/or there's something significantly wrong with it, I think that is a great price. Even if it weren't a limited model, it's a solidly-built guitar with high quality woods and parts.

My junior II is a single piece body. An absolute hot rod!

Looks legit enough to me, but at that price I'd want to see some better photos. The pick guard looks like a different colour to the original, and so does the switch tip - both easily reversible. Its super cheap, so perhaps there is a reason?

Now is it just me or does the upper half of that guitar look like its made of ash/alder? There's a big difference between it and the bottom half. It could just be the crap photo I guess.

That's what I told her. I suggested she take a 1/4" and a 4mm allen with her to check the truss rod to see if it's seized or broken.
I can fix about anything else for her.

The pickguard in the photo is leather. OG comes with.
