The question is how much money do you want to spend. I have both and you can buy two G&ls for the price of the Grosh. They are both very fine guitars. It was an easy choice for me. I had 15 G&Ls and then I bought a Grosh. I have an Asat Launch Edition Alnico and it is one of the best sounding guitars that I own. I do not know what you do to get a saddle lock with the Alnicos in the ASAT. The Specials are MFDs-- Darwin

I just want a light G&L Asat Alnico. I had a Grosh and foolishly sold it. What got me thinking about this was my Legacy and the new Alnico G&Ls. Ahh GAS!

I would then recommend the Asat Hollow classic with the Alnicos. Jump on the guitar builder and see what you can come up with.-- Darwin

Darwin, how would you compare the bolt-on Grosh's against the G&L's?
(Love the look of the Electrajets- and the soundclips I've heard so far, above all those from Fatsound Guitars)

Xochitl, They are both very well built. The Grosh is a Classic T and weighs 7 lbs 6 oz. The build is excellent and it a nitro finish. It has a fat neck. Where it stands out is in the shielding and detail area. The pickups are unbelievably quiet for single coil giving a pure, what I would describe as a great Tele tone. The bridge and saddles are outstanding for quality, even the pickguard is special in that it is brushed what appears to be internally so it doesn't wear. The fretwork is impeccable, and I am not referring to the only the tops but the fret ends and how the fingerboard feels. With the cavity and pickguard shielding, it is what one would expect with the price that you pay. I also have a Surh which is very high quality, but you pay a premium price for these guitars. I will not use the Grosh as a player. To put things in perspective, the G&Ls are the best value on the planet. Are they the absolute best guitar built? That answer would be subjective but I can do the same shielding to a G&L and solve any noise issues. Grosh claims to select woods for tap tone. What does that do? Probably adds to the consistency of the build. Who knows, but the Grosh is a fine example of a well built guitar and they are expensive. I have one and would consider an Electrajet in the future, but the real test in my case is that I have 16 American G&Ls and that speaks for itself. -- Darwin

I really don't believe you need to worry about the saddle-lock. Even if someone would do it, you still have to surround that T-type back pickup with some sheet steel, or it won't sound right.
I suppose some arrangement could be cooked up to achieve that alongside a saddle-lock bridge, but in reality the Asat Classic rethink of the Tele bridge is extremely good, and adjusts completely. It is also made to "standard" fixing centres, so can be swapped out for ( e.g.) a Callaham if you prefer.
I have a saddle-lock on my WR model, and it's very good. I've also played several Classics, and been quite demanding of them, and I have to say that their bridges, in every case, were also really excellent.
+ I'm with Darwin, I just want lots of G&Ls!

Thanks, Darwin. If I'd be "reasonable", I'd only buy used G&L's (and that's what I've been doing so far, with three on my counter) - that would be underplayed anyway. But Grosh and Suhr are among the guitars that I would give myself as a huge treat in hope to have more time to play that I could actually get. Well... Dream on...

I am taking it all in before I buy my tele style guitar. I finally heard the MFD pickups, and I like them. I am going to get a vintage radius this time, so I went to a site and calculated the cost of a semi hollow ASAT Classic with maple tinted neck. Price is well under $1700. As I understand it, Grosh stays with a 10" radius, so that's out. Before I commit to the build, I am buying the Fender 2013 Fender Limited Edition '52 Telecaster(made in Japan). If it is great, so be it. Otherwise, I'll order my first custom build guitar. Ain't GAS fun!
