I want the guitar in the picture

Post by cigblues9 »

The one with the cool bridge, 3 pups, semi hollow body....could it be the cure for GAS. Actually, I am shopping for a lightweight, 2 0r 3 pup alnico in butterscotch. And I am only sorta picky. I just want the ashtray gone and alnico pups. Am I talking serious cash?

Do you mean the one on the Guitars by Leo home page? That's the GbL Limited Edition, designed by participants on the "old" G&L Discussion Page about twelve years ago. I believe only 25 were made, and they don't change hands very often. If you really like the Saddlelock bridge on a three-pickup ASAT, you could keep an eye open for a Leo-era ASAT III. They aren't quite as rare as the LE, but they would have been from before semi-hollow bodies were available.

Actually, it's 14 years old as it was built in 1999.
Also, the www.guitarsbyleo.com Limited Edition pickups are MFD not Alnico.

Have you had an opportunity to play or hear MFD pickups? See the G&L Knowledgebase post: List of pickups used in G&L guitars
for some details on the various pickups used in G&L guitars.

Hope this helps.

In case you missed it, did you see the link to the G&L online generator at American Guitar Boutique? One of the stickies near the top discusses it. I don't think they have the alnico option loaded, but it'll give you an idea of what you can create. And you can create a custom order with G&L. As for the cost, it'll depend on what you select, but I think it's very competitive with most American-made production guitars.
