2006 L-2000 (US)
This is a strange one. When I move with the bass there is a cracking noise. It sounds like static electricity popping.
It’s not the amp or cables. The noise occurs regardless of settings selected: pickup selected, active or passive mode, series or parallel.
The noise is still there in passive mode with the battery removed.
I’m curious if anyone else has run into this problem and how it can be fixed.
Thanks
DF

Sounds like an input jack issue. Check to see that the retaining spring hasn't bent over time and lost it's tension against the jack sleeve. Perhaps hit with a little electrical contact cleaner while at it. It could also be intermittent at the tip receiver.

It might be pickguard static, see this post in the G&L Knowledgebase: G&L Tech Tips sub-forum: Pickguard Static Noise.dflint wrote:2006 L-2000 (US)

I suspect it is the plastic cover over the preamp causing the problem. I covered mine with adhesive foil on the back side for that reason.-- Darwin

Thanks to darwinohm. Your suggestion solved the problem. I had the same problem with an S-500 (Tribute) a while back. I installed foil on the back of the pick guard to fix that one.
Thankfully I had some of the foil adhesive left. Since the L-2000 has no pick guard it never occurred to me to shield the rear plate covering the electronics.
Anyhow, it worked and thanks again!
